Grab it now.
I grabbed! :)
Thanks SimonJM! Looking forward to seeing some of the first renders.
Great to see this now in store.
Purchased....now time for some Genesis HAIRY manscaping. Adding hair (good) rather than shaving (bad).
Just a quick trial render.
The model here is Caleb by Phoenix1966 using the plain, no body hair texture. The scene lighting is DimensionTheory's HDR Pro-Set UrbanRecreation UR-Courts.
My initial thoughts are :
It's good to see all the hair options available, that were also in the REAL HAIRY Genesis 2 product.
The nipple hair appears to fit very well on the Genesis model, and the under arm hair is a very good realistic fit and poses well.
Time now to play with different hair fits, character textures, and various lighting set-ups.
Thanks MikeyFTL for another great product. :-)
Thanks MP. I tried to fix most of the little mistakes this time around.
I bought these thinking I could use them in Poser 2014. I can't find the hair anywhere. I don't use DAZ I guess I am used to Poser. Where would the hair show up in Poser?
PLEASE HELP!
:-)
Unfortunately I haven't used Poser in years and have no idea how it handles DAZ3D files. Maybe if Poser didn't crash on me every ten minutes I would keep using it. I'm surprised that something like Genesis and G2M would work properly in Poser. Since I'm getting ready to release my first hairstyle using the same technology as REAL Hairy, I am curious to find out if it would even load. Has anyone had any success?
I use poser as well as daz studio. I have never had a problem loading Daz3D products that have a DSON Core Installer into poser until I bought your other product, Real Hairy. The files don't show up anywhere in any poser libraries that I can find. I do enjoy your Real Hairy product and hope the issue with poser can be addressed but until then suggest you mention on the item sales pages that they don't work with poser. The sales pages say they include a DSON Core Installer which indicates to me they work with poser.
I have not had poser lockup or quit working in years. I seem to remember a problem about 6 years ago with poser and memory but that was corrected.
Note in passing. I just about left without a second thought.
what about "G2M"? just for those of us that don't notice the pics in the signatures.

I kind of didn't know it existed, for many reasons. As for my David5 and M5 collection, the addition is very tempting. I wounder what 'Gunner' looks like with a "Pet tarantula", lol.
DSON Core is the basic DS file set, without PoserCFs there is nothing to see in the Poser library (though you may be able to import using Dimension3D's script to launch the DSON Importer http://d3d.sesseler.de/index.php?software=poserpython&product=dson_loader

That's a good point. When I made the original REAL Hairy, I wasn't planning on importing it to Genesis. When people started requesting it, I decided to give it a go. I'm not sure if DAZ3D has the ability to rename a product that's over a year old, but I will make the request.
So the big reason my REAL Hairy files don't show up in poser is there are no posercf files. I wish I had known that it was a DS only product. I would have passed on the purchase. I think it is a delightful product but use poser far more then DS. I find it easier for me to control the elements in a scene and have Realty4 for poser as well as some other useful adds. I am aware they are available for DS but would have to outlay cash to add them. Maybe the product creator will make a version that works with poser and DS, like most of the other modeling software on Daz3d, and I will be able to update. Thanks for the tip and link.
Is there any reason Real Hairy can't be added back to the store. Is it because the PA has gone AWOL?
good Q, not sure. I do know that Daz Studio has had many changes since then, and any of may have broken whatever this hair thing used. I do hope the PA is doing ok, I know it's been eons since I fussed with generation5.
Works just fine in 4.10 - I haven't upgraded, so I can't comment on 4.11. Great product, I use it all the time :-)
Works just as well in 4.11. Ive used it on all genesis generations. Its really a shame that its not for sale anymore.
I could only use certain parts of the product as it hovered (or was misplaced) over parts of the chest/nipples, legs and arm pits and was never updated. There are better items available now that also have iray support.
I've been using it in 4.11 just fine.
I bought this a year or two ago. It's actually still me favorite and although I only do one render o..r so a year that needs body hair it still works on G3M/G8M if you follow the procedure to fit/parent to each succeeding generation from the source generation to the final target generation.
There is a new product that I haven't tried for G8M that is roughly equivalent and in ways better than Real Hairy, called Jepe's Project 78. I guess that's Jepe's 78th project since he started making DAZ products?
The original was 456, for generations 4, 5, and 6, (Michael 4, Genesis Male, Genesis 2 Male,) The updated version is 78 for generations 7 and 8, (Genesis 3 Male, Genesis 8 Male.)
I have both. I've also got REAL Hairy. Fiber mesh is great for up close, but put a little distance between the camera and the figure, and fiber mesh stops being worth the resources it needs, imo. Then REAL Hairy and Jepe's Project products become the better solution. (With Iray, anyway.)
A bit confused here:) Real Hairy is fibermesh, no? And Jepe's stuff use geoshells with opacity- and displacement maps? Totally different products, or maybe I don't understand your post?
Whoops. You're right. I was misremembering. (That should teach me to double-check things before committing them to a post.) I like having options, so I have several body hair products, from here and elsewhere. I suspect Jepe's are the only ones I own that use GeoShells instead of fiber mesh.
I didn't know Real Hair was fibre mesh. I didn't know fibre mesh was around then and Real Hairy loads pretty quick.
Fibremesh hair exprted as tubes or strips from a suitable modeller (or LaMH/Garibaldi) has beena round for a fair while. It isn't strand-based hair inside DS though.
I didn't really go AWOL. DAZ3D dumped my products for no reason and no explantation. I never even got an email explaning why.
I was about to start a new project for M8, which started with an experiement called the Real Hairy Chocolate Donut (see below). It was going to be a next-level hair system that would alllow you to create everything from peach fuzz to pelts.
Unfortunately my PA information was deleted and I was no longer a PA. They tried to get me up and running again with a new account, but they seemed to be having some major problems on their end and I was getting frustrated dealing with them.
To this day, I am not considered a PA, even on my original account.
Needless to say I lost interest in dealing with them as a vendor.
Cool donut. How is the project progressing?
well that sucks
I honestly don't comprehend their marketting choices at all as a customer either.
What a darn shame. Your products were astonishingly good at the time, and I hoped for an updated version for quite some time. Seeing what you were working on, it's even more of a loss that you no longer bother with the market.
I abandoned it shortly after. When COVID hit, I lost my 13 year job as a graphic designer for an engineering firm. Seven months later I'm still unemployed. I've had a-lot of time on my hands so I'm playing with 3D again, but if anything comes from it, I would probably sell it on Réndérósíty.
