Smooth eye detail

I am trying to create an effect where the entire eye has a single shader applied to it for a seamless effect.  I thought it would be pretty easy, but I've spent hours on it now with no joy.  I am using G8F and the issue I am having is when I apply the shader, you can see a seam where the iris meets the sclera and the pupil is indented creating a shadow well on the eye surface.  So I thought I'd just roll the eyes back into the head and use the back side of the eye as the eye surface, but you can't roll the eyes back into the head anymore.  I've been tweaking the pupil and iris sizes, and the cornea bulge parameters and while I've gotten some interesting effects, I haven't managed to find the settings that gives me a smooth surface that I can apply a shader to to get the effect I'm looking for.  It shouldn't be this hard, so I'm wondering if I'm not missing something obvious.  Any help would be awesom.

You're not going to be able to do what you want to do wth the eye.

Best bet is to replace the eye with a sphere primitive, parented to the eye and then apply the shader.

    To explain.

The eye isn't a sphere. The cornea, iris and pupil have their own geometry that's offset from the rest of the eye to create a more accurate model.

You can rotate the eye as much as you want, just need to turn limits off.

This will create some weird effect with the lids, as they are linked to the rotation of the eye.

Also, the back of the eye is kinda flat.

EDIT: I was able to apply the same shader to the Cornea and Eyemoisture surfaces and get a "solid" look to it.

Wasn't able to see a "line" in the surface, but that could be due to the shaders, lighting or render settings, i was using.

  • When you applied the shader to the pupil it didn't create a concave well?  I am going to have to try again, if it doesn't work, I'll definately have to try the sphere idea!  Thank you!-

Go to the Cornea surface and turn the Refraction Weight down to zero.
