Evil DAZ store!!!

in The Commons
Mostly I don't have problems with the store but I guess there's a first time for everything. I made a move on two bargain hair items just now and somehow DAZ wants fifty bucks Canadian!!! Arrrgh. Hope I turned off the computer in time or someone's gonna pay!
Heh heh... let's see how long this thread lasts. My friend is in the hospital and I needed a distraction.

...umm yeah, same here, had two 2.99$ items in the cart and suddenly the total was over 30$ There was no mention it was a Flash Sale .
Fortunately I didn't click the checkout button.
what we you getting
Same here both 1.99 items, put them in cart, got to pay both items now total $35. Nice game I don't like games.
They're all back on sale now at $3.99 or $1.99 if you buy 10.
Yeah it would appear that they fixed the issue. I got a hair style, a character and some fabric shaders by Jen Greenlees.
...OK, so the items I had in my cart are even more expensive. Ended uop dumping the cart. This should have been promoted as a "Blink" or "Flash" sale as usually offers like this last the entire day.
The only "bonus", more money saved.
The sale was only on for four hours - see the start/end times at te bottom of the banner:
Maybe we're so habiituated to Daz not telling us when sales are going to end, that we're not noticing when they do? I know I missd a couple of things last night.
What's more evil - in my opinion - about these 2 hour sales is that it's a bit rough on people whose time zone is outside the US. For people in Europe, the store has been pretty quiet for most of the day, then interesting sales start to show up late in the evening and during the night. But maybe Daz doesn't want our money?
I didn't miss the sale and bought 14 items at $2.99... I wish I'd missed the original sale too!
I was 'lucky' enough not to miss the first sale and bought 14 items. Now hours later they've dropped in price again.
I might just not buy anything over $1.99 anymore haha.
Dumped my whole cart last night when it shot up to $175 as I went to pay. That hasn't happened for me in a long time.
While it's a nice change to have the sale time in the fine print, why not put "4 HOUR CLEARENCE SALE" in big type so people can know what's going on. I've been shopping on the DAZ store for ten years and you still managed to trick me into wasting time going thru all the stuff and building a cart - all for nothing. I really hate that...
I simply don't understand the logic of not providing a countdown clock for the sales. Regardless of timezone, a countdown clock works for everybody. And even if it isn't implemented as a dynamic clock, it could be implemented as a "CLICK HERE TO VIEW TIME REMAINING IN SALE" type of operation. People on the other side of the world know squat about the various American timezones or even know where Utah is (and I'm afraid a lot of Americans don't even know where Utah is). And I swear DAZ goes out of their way to infuriate people by not staying on top of sales and prices or perhaps the DAZ-ions in Utah really still don't understand how timezones work. This timezone issue has been an issue since the beginning of DAZ time. Boo DAZ
I don't know where you folks are getting those numbers, but I've got all my daz products at the fraction of the price. Surely, they might not be the newest, but older content can be seen discounted up to 90%. that's some serious savings!
I saw those $1.99 items too ... no mention of flash, but a couple hours later, gone. The coupon was not working on those items {to be expected but we try lol ...} BUT when the items were more money {still on sale but a good deal more money} - the coupon still didn't work {and I think it should have however ...} and then they went to the $2.99 {or 10 @$1.99} price. End result, bought nothing. Stable prices guys come on.
Haha! Passed through Salt Lake 1x in the mid-1990's B.C. (before computers) Actually it was one of the better places I encountered - the big downtown hotel (one of the chains) had begun to twig to the idea of having a business room eg. fax, phone jacks, printer etc. at a time when most westerners drew a blank if I asked if they knew where there was a place where I could screw in my Black Jack. Which I still have somewhere btw.
Flash back up to present day and yeah - I thought there was a time issue with my 'original' attempt at an order, and that my luck had simply run out.
...+1
Again was fortunate I didn't click the "submit order" button.
"...still managed to trick me..." That's the problem. Tiny print on a busy page is always a cop-out and a CYA, when the information is important to the reader. The company can say "well, we did say..." but really they just whispered it into a dark corner. They really don't want you to know, and hope you get caught up in the excitement and toss them some coin. I hate that.
THIS! YES!
A "CLICK HERE TO VIEW TIME REMAINING IN SALE" clock.
Pleeeeeeasssse!
A number of times during various DAZ3D sales events, I have put my inexpensive products in the cart and clicked the paypal payment link even though the price was much higher than it should have been - and the discount didn't show up untl I got to the PayPal site, where it showed the items were $1.99. I'm not suggesting you try this - but this has been my experience.
As to the OP's original post - $50 Canadian. I'm in Canada too. When I use a credit card or PayPal an extra THIRTY PERCENT is added with the exchange in money and a couple of percent added for PayPal, and a couple of percent added for the CC company. I sure hope DAZ3D is paying Canadian content producers who sell on this site in US$.
Hemmmm... not good at math but I've never seen anything that looks like 30 percent. And **I KNOW** that number because for decades it's been the Cdn gov'ts policy to tack on a 33 1/3 percent duty on imported goods. Doesn't matter if what you're importing is the latest computer chips, diodes or electronics or a 1950's film camera that has already crossed the border twenty times - the gov't wants their 33 1/3. Makes no sense at all -- dinging a kid? Come on! -- and is a sure innovation and creativity killer and for what purpose?
Anyway for me credit cards stopped working around a year ago. Oh they work fine on other big companies (Amazon, N.Y. Times, Yahoo, Interserver) but no DAZ.
I haven't noticed any PayPal levy.
Maybe we should both buy the same inexpensive thing at the same time, co-ordinated via PM, and compare notes.
I just find that if I get some sort of whammy at checkout I usually re-think my purchasing decision.
Definitely I've seen that COUPON discounts don't get factored in unless I get the spelling (and I think the upper and lower case) absolutely right. I hope I'm wrong.
