Daz Studio now works on my Mac but not Daz Central

I downloaded the new Daz Studio and it now opens and works on my Macbook running Big Sur. The problem is Daz Central. Every time I try to Install something, it freezes up and I have to force quit. Anyone have any solution? I've already uninstalled and reinstalled it twice already.

Hmm, yeah. I get the Whirling Beachball of Doom too (OS X 11.5.2, freshly-download DAZ Central). It's possible that it's just choking on my ridiculously huge DAZ library and it will come back eventually, but it certainly looks hung right now.

Use DIM instead; it is imo much better than Daz Central.

    Seconded.

  • I thought about going back to DIM, but I can't seem to find a way to download it for Mac.

    Try this link: https://www.daz3d.com/install-manager-info

For some reason, DAZ make it nearly impossible to find the download page for DIM, but this seems to be it.

Go to your Product Library, filter for "install manager" and you will find the downloads for DIM within a second.

  • Great, I found it, thanks.

  • Tried to install DIM on Mac OS BigSur and received this: “DAZ Install Manager (64-bit)” cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware. Anyone know how to resolve this?

Right click on the installer, and choose "Open" (rather than double-clicking the file); this will give you a "are you sure you want to do this?" dialogue, instead of the "you can't do this" one.  Then you're good to go.

  • Awesome, I'll try it when I get home today.

  • I tried to install DIM by right clicking and choosing Open as you suggested, but Big Sur stopped that as well. I found out that if you create an alias of the software then right click on the alias, it lets you install it. Go figure.

Right-mouse or <crtl>-left-mouse click on the “DAZ Install Manager (64-bit)” icon and choose "Open". The OS will ask if you want to launch an application from an unidentified developer and you can tell it to go ahead and do so.

It should be listed in the usual place for fidning isntalled applications - the Dock I assume. You don't launch the application from Install Manager, that is one feature it lacks that Daz Central has.

Why would one open an installer to launch an application?

That makes no sense to me.

I think the idea is to be able to launch Daz Studio and have it load the newly-installed content, rather than just as a way to launch the application.
