Object wont load texture

michaelolsonmichaelolson Posts: 117

Anyone else ever have this problem? I've created some objects, sometimes when I load some objects into Daz and I use the surfaces menu, go to diffuse color, browse and select a texture map, sometimes it wont load the texture onto the object, just a shade color of the texture. Anyone know what is going on and how to fix it?

I should add the objects are being created in Hex and saved as wavefront OBJ. It seems I have to bring them into photoshop using it's 3d system and saving again as a OBJ before I can load a texture onto it in DAZ.

It's possible the objects are not UV mapped so textures won't be applied.

I should be able to apply a simple texture, which I can when I bring the obj into photshop and resave. I've not uv mapping anything in there.

Its possible that photoshop is automapping them somehow, Generally if you're not seeing a texture on an object its because it lacks the UV information required to project the texture onto the object.

No no. Maybe I'm not explaining this properly. When you bring an object into Daz, or create a primitive in Daz, then use the surface selection tool then go to the surfaces menu, diffuse color option at the top and click on the square shaped box at the very left of the number input bar, you can then browse jpegs etc. to use as a surface map. Daz automatically wraps the jpeg around the object. Hex 2 is made for Daz and I use to be able to make an object in there and bring it into Daz and then perform this operation - no problem. But now it wont and I don't know why. In photoshop I am not working with an object that has a jpeg as a surface map applied to it all I am doing is bringing in a basic grey OBJ object and saving it again as an OBJ object. Then Daz will perform the operation properly.

You need to UV map then in Hexagon. The DS primitives are created with UV maps.

Thanks guys, you were right. Hex must have been auto mapping a uv model onto my objects before, I went in and quickly saw how to do it. Thanks again.
