New member and question about integrating Daz3D content into Unreal Engine Plugin

Hi all,

New Daz3D user, pleasure to be here!

Lately I've been using Daz3D for some tests with a full body motion capture plugin that I developed for Unreal Engine 4.

I managed to solve most of the issue related to joints orientation ( I know there is a plugin that solve that problem ) and Daz3D characters are working as expected.

I have a question related to sharing content:

I'm using the Genesis 8 dev male for my tests ( and other characters, just to test different ones ), and my idead was to integrate the Genesis 8 character as the "default character" for the Daz3D setup, but I'm not 100% sure I can do that, since the rules regarding the sharing of the content are not 100% clear.

So question is, can I ship the plugin I developed with the Genesis 8 male character?
I'm asking since I also created a template for Mixamo, but since also for their characters the sharing of the content is not super clear, I just uploaded a character I created, and then just used the skeletal hierarcht without any mesh ( just a plane binded to the skeleton ).

What are your thoughts about this?

Thanks in advance

Nicolas

  • Not under the stanard licenses, no. If you can implement it in a way that requires the Daz produce to be installed then that might well be ok, and you could discuss other options via a Sales support ticket.
