Daz Originals G8F Character Compatible with 8.1 Figure?

Hello, Can someone tell me if I can apply a G8F character (Millarose for Genesis 8 Female created by Daz Orignals) to G8.1F figure? I have not purchaces 8.1 or I would have just tried it. I want to use Mellarose but would like to have the upgraded benefits of the G8.1F figure - of course, haha.

If I can apply G8F to G8.1F, what are some of the issues I may have to be on the look out for?

I understand that the eyes in particular are possible trouble area, but if I apply something like Natural Eyes for G8.1 will that correct any probles?

Hello,

You already have 8.1 in your Product Library ;-)  Download and install the Genesis 8 starter sets. Also the default bundle package for the D/S program [to get the new shaders]. Also you need to be working in D/S4.15+ in order for the new PBR shader to work and in order for the 8.1 figures to properly read all the morph data, etc. for the 8 figures.

Then, yes, any character morphs you have for G8F will work on G8.1F.  What to watch out for is that new products made only for G8.1 - those will not work on G8 figures.

The 8.1 figures can use any of the uvsets 8 has, plus it has its own 8.1 uvsets. The eyes are different. You can apply the eye mats from G8 to G8.1 - or use eye mats made for G8.1. If something looks too weird, check that the uvmat is correct for the concerned body part.

Oh yes, also install the products for their gens. You will find that for the 8.1 figures, each figure now has something special from the other gender ;-)

Is there a way within Daz, or an add-on/script, that will copy all of the Parameters and Surfaces settings that I have applied to a G8 figure and apply them to the G8.1 figure? I am simply trying to "upgrade" a character from G8 to G8.1. Or do I need to do this all manually?

Merged threads.

As you were told above, Genesis 8 content will apply to Genesis 8.1 in general so you simply apply your character to Genesis 8.1. A few items which depend on explicit surface names may present issues but those are the exception rather than the rule.

Save a character preset from your G8F character and then apply said preset to G8.1F.
