Files are noted as missing after DIM installation upon trying to load the item

Occasionally I have opened files I bought wherein I let DAZ Install Manager do its thing, and upon trying to load some of the content into DAZ I'm getting the occasional error message that some files can't be found.

How do I know whether they were misfiled, or never installed, or if there was something corrupted in transit, or even where to begin looking.

I see there's an uninstall feature. Is that a good way to go and reinstall the file? I must confess I don't know more than send it from this website to my computer, let it queue up automatically in DIM and press 'Start".

I mean this all seems like it would be really basic and designed to be totally automatic. But are there docs for using DIM? Clearly I'm going to have to manage it a wee bit closer.

Thanks.

DIM should always install all of the required files, I don't think DIM is your problem.

It is more likely to be the way your content paths are set up in the Content Directory Manager. Go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and make sure that the install path for DIM is also listed there as BOTH Poser Formats and DAZ Studio Formats.

DIM by default, installs to C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library unless you changed it.

Make sure that the above path (or the one you have used if changed) is listed as described above.

Any error messages that are generated while loading content, will be added to the log file which you can look at by going to Help > Troubleshooting > View Log File. If the above does not fix your problems, post the message from the log, and we'll see if we can figure it out for you.

There is a sample script you can download and run (by placing it in your scripts folder and double-clicking or by using File>Merge) that will let you import your DIM paths as content directories for DAZ Studio. The download link is just above the box with the code. http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/file_io/install_manager_config_import/start
