Camera Light Render Troubles

I was trying to do a render from a camera perspective looking out the window of a plane.

The trouble I'm having is the render was too bright, so the wall and window were opaque. What's even more challenging is the fact that whatever I do doesn't dial down the glare. I've tried

1) turning off the camera headlamp

2) shifting the positioning of the headlamp either outside the plane or in front of the camera

3) dialing down the headlamp's intensity

4) turning off auto headlamp for rendering, while keeping the environment's light intact

5) reposition the camera so it's not in something or going through something

6) established a pointlight in the room, tried dialing down its glow, and turning the camera's headlamp off

And yet, whatever I did still produces that same troublesome glare, making the wall of the plane too bright and the window so opaque that nothing outside it could be rendered.

I've tried everything I can think of, but nothing changed. Are there any suggestions on how to fix it and render what's outside the window properly?

Perhaps you are not using the correct preview draw style. If you are using Filament preivew, most scene will appear very bright, Try switching to Iray preview.

  • All rendering is through Iray, so I'm not sure if that is part of the problem.

You might want to explain "preview draw style" to me. I was referring to the Iray renders, which as much as I fiddle with the headlamp; I still end up with a bright opaque wall and window..

The only other thing I can think off is in your tonemapping settings, increase your exposure value  (default is 13).   The higher the value the darker the scene.

  • I did try that. It solves the glare problem, but the window's still too opaque to view outside the plane.

when I used some scenes converted from 3delight to iray there was a problem that the specular and glossy values were much to high. In this renders transparent object came out looking solid because they had an overall color and non of the items behind could be seen.

Turning down or shutting off of specular and gloss solved that problem

    Nice days and nice renders
