Is DAZ ever getting an updated version of 3Delight?

I understand there are multi-core compatible versions of 3Delight...

Is Daz getting these?

????? When rendering in 3Delight, DS4.15 uses all of the 12cores/24threads available on my system.

I'd love for 3Delight to be able to render hair faster.

I've spent 8+ hours on a render, and that's just for the hair! So I don't  use 3Delight as much as I'd like to.

  • I believe the, or at least an, obstacle to an updated version of 3Delight is that it would break all the existing shaders.

...that's true as I believe they went to a different shader model.

Try turning occlusion off for the hair, that usually helps.

Breaking all existing shaders would be a big problem for me. I still use 3Delight and I've bought quite a lot of shaders for it. I was dissapointed when we lost pwSketch in the transition from Daz 3 to 4, I would hate to lose the other pw shaders.

They could update to 3Delight 12.5.8 which was released in November 2017 and is the last 3Delight version that was compatible with Daz Studio and the Renderman Shading Language RSL. But instead of at least using this version, Studio 4.15.0.30 still comes with the ancient 3Delight 12.0.27, released already end of 2015.

I don't want to sound rude, but it seems to me, with introduction of Iray, 3Delight was pushed onto the sidings and no longer considered at all...
