Neftis3D Isabel Hair fits

I bought the @Neftis3D  Isabel Casual Hair for Genesis 8 Females | Daz 3D thinking that it is a nice look for a child. However, it doesn't fit the Growing Up child morphs. I have logged a ticket for this but have had no feedback. Is there a way to contact the PA?

The Growing Up morphs seem to cause problems with certain hair products (as do toon morphs), so I don't think it's anything specific to this hair.

Ah, that surprises me because I have maybe 20 hair items for G8F and this is the first time I have noticed a problem. Perhaps because I don't use the growing up morphs very often but I have have recently started a project recreating scenes from my own childhood memories and will need to include kids more often.

Anyhow, I have tried to contact the vendor via PM but I have not had much luck with that route previously.

For a quick fix, try adding a smoothing modifier to the hair and have it collide with the head.

Thanks for the idea, Michael. I tried it and the Mesh Smoothing almost works but it doesn't. Then there's somethig weird going on with a chunk of hair mesh flying out at the back.I think that, in the absence of an update from the PA, I will have to take it into Blender and make a morph for small people (by the way, the hair doesn't like Topsy either).

  • Don't fit the hair to the figure, parent it to their head and then use the scaling dials/ or any inbuilt adjust morphs + the smoothing modifer to get a better fit.

Well I did sculpt a morph - far from ideal but then I'm not a modeller. At least it will look ok at a distance. Not sure it will work on all Growing Up (or other) shapes though.

I really should have thought of that myself. That's what I do with hair from other generations. I will give it a try, thanks.

Sometimes hair has a rigidity map applied - that will not work with extreme morphs and will need to be set to zero before fitting to the character in question. In those cases, load the hair unfitted, go to Tools > Node Weight Map Brush. If there is a rigidity map select it, right click in the viewport > select all geometry then fill map with 0%. At this point, I'd fit the hair to a basic G8/G8.1 then Saves As Support Asset > Figure/Prop Asset. Navigate to the hair's folder, choose a name (I usually add NR to the end - No Rigidity) so it doesn't overwrite the original hair - then select your morphed character and load the new hair asset.

If there isn't a rigidity map then it's an anomalous hair that just won't autofit properly - I've not been able to ascertain why some hairs are like this. Either chose another hair or create your own fitting morph :(

  • While some PAs are responsive to PMs and/or in the forums, Daz ticket system provides the support for their products. It's part of what Daz's percentage of their sales pays for.

Unfortunately, DAZ support is even less responsive. I have opened a ticket and, predictably, crickets. Those PAs should demand that percentage back, IMO.
