Saving files

For some reason, in my newly installed version of ds 4.15, whenever I hit save it opens a new window and I have to save the file by replacing the old one. Is there some preference or setting I need to change so that it will just save the file I am working on?

Make sure you have set an "author" name in DS preferences. 
When you save a scene DS will check if the author name is the same as yours before saving then will "save as" if it's not, so you don't risk overwriting a scene from a product for example. If your author name is not defined in DS preferences then it will be considered as different all the time.
