Export Question

edited January 2015 in Daz Studio Discussion

Hi folks, I am new, so Daz to be gentle xD But I am running into a problem with regard to exporting my figures.

Basically what I would like do is bake/connect any figure geometry on the same UV on export or in app. Just to make it a bit clearer, I am opening my figures in both C4D and also Keyshot and my figures are coming in with every single finger, toe and tooth. SO I then need to reconnect all my textures...100s of them. This process is quite normal in C4D and importing curtain files but as I say. If I could bake for example the Solder/Upper Arm/Lower Arm/Palm/Outer Hand/All the individual fingers on both sides into just ARMS and as all these elements are on the same UV I could just apply the UV map once and boom done.

Possible?

Thanks.

Texture atlas is included in DAZ Studio, it will help with what you want to do.

Right ok, I was unaware of it. I will take a look now.

    Thanks.

Ah ok, I took a look and read the description but it not quite what I am after. Plus i need to keep the Texture maps high res. I am only dealing with 4 texture maps in total (body, head, arms, eyes) but the problem comes not on the texture side but the fact that daz is exporting all the morph-able sections of the body as separate objects.

I would like daz to take all the geometry that is under the same UV map (e.g. the arms) and bake them into one object, not each section a totally separate object.

You need to fix this on the import side of the other program you're using. It is probably set to turn the poly groups in to object groups.

Hmm, that sounds about right to be honest now that I come to think of it. I will research further and see where I could be going wrong. Will post my findings in case others have the same issue.
