Daz3d Meta Data Mangement
In the past I went through and organized all of my daz3d and poser assets with meta data information to show up in the smart menu, it took a lot of time and effort. I had a windows 10 issue and backed up my main daz3d folder but when I copied and paste that information back none of my meta data showed up and I had to pretty much start over. is there any advice for this, is there any plugins to help with this to pack up a library or where are these files located for the meta data. should I just start over and have it installed on seperate harddrive so if my windows crashes I still got my library meta data files. I really want to go through my library again but I dont want it to be all done in vain if I have to redo it every time I have to backup my computer.

Did you create products? If they were just categorised and so on without being a product then you would need to go to the Content DB Maintenance periodically (in the Content Library options menu - the line/hamburger button in the top corner, or right-click the tab) and select Export User Data. If you create a new product for each then the metadata is exported automatically on save - though you'd still ideally want to export user data for your own files. The metadata is written to /Runtime/Support/ in the first Daz Studio content directory (so it may be there already if you had been creating products) and can be restored via the Reimport Metadata option in the Content DB Maintenance dialogue - I think, though, that if you set up separater stores for the different sites you might have to rebuild those first, then reimport the product metadata.
You can also back up the Content Cluster folder (Edit>Preferences>CMS Settings gives its location), but this needs to eb done when nothing is accessing the database as there are multiple files and having some from before a write and some after would break the back up. To be safe it's probably best to take a belt-and-braces (would that by belt-and-suspenders in American?) and do both.
yo this is amazing information thank you so much you saved me so much time and effort. yeah for most stuff I did make new products just to do it properly and bring it into the scene and modified the ids. this information is a bit of a treasure for me thank you.
ohh gosh they changed the content DB editor tabs I have to relearn how to do it again
The chnage is declaring compatibility base, everything else is the same (at least, depending on which version you last used but I don't think there have been a lot of changes).
