3D Printable Models to Poseable Action Figures

Greetings!

I'm excited. I just read on 3DPrint.com of DAZ releasing models ready for 3D printing.

Link to the article: http://3dprint.com/41231/daz-3d-embraces-3d-printing/

I've always enjoyed using DAZ's products, especially when combining with my Bryce renders. Since being involved with 3D rendering I've now expanded into 3D printing and have started my own 3D printing business supporting action figures -- props, vehicles, sets, diorama displays, in a variety of scales from 1:18 to 1:3. I've always thought the market for expanding into the poseable toy lines was huge, and found no reason why a Vicki or some other DAZ model could not be converted to an action figure. The challenge is the design and placement of articulation points.

As a product suggestion I would like to suggest software, maybe as some plug-in to DAZ Studio, that can splice the DAZ figure model into segments so the studio designer can add structures for action figure articulation.

Just one thing you need to keep in mind before you plan to use DAZ figures for your business: right now 3D printing is only ok for personal, non commercial use (see the new EULA, and the new "3D print" page in the store).

That said, your plugin idea would definitely be useful :)
