Tool Settings Pane

Hi.  I've given myself a headache with the tool settings pane - it wasn't docked to anything and I tried to drag it.  Now all I'm getting is a plain grey pane which runs top to bottom of the entire screen with absolutely no text or features.  All I can do is resize it to left or to right.  Right clicking produces no options.  Any advice?

Reset your layout and hope the upgrade to Qt5 improves the UI.

  • Thanks, both of you, but the problem has magfically righted itself.  Weeeeird!  Thanks again. smiley

  • I'm happy to hear that you solved it but... I still wanted to provide some standard solutions hoping that it still can help someone (if not you OP then maybe a random reader?).

    • You can add panes using drag/drop, but you can also right click on the border and then select a specific pane to add.
    • If a pane can't be dragged up/down (or left/right when at the top) then make sure you didn't lock your UI ("Window menu => workspace" => Lock Docking/Undocking, I use control-u for this but I don't remember if I assigned this myself).
    • If you have a layout that works for you then be sure to save it (default is F4, you can also use: "Window menu => workspace => Save Layout as..."), this will make sure that you can always reset your UI (as mentioned by Margrave) but without losing your customizations).
