take 2 objects, a white ball and an emissive ball

place the white ball at 0 0 0

place the light-ball anywhere

select the 2 balls

run the scripts

adjust a few parameters that are easy to figure

for example the position where the other ball is when the other ball is at 0,0,0

lets saw way away out of the view, 10000, 10000, 10000

you now have an animation where the white ball seems to flash on an off at the rate you want for the duration you want
