the unique dress

Hello dear members...

I have no idea if this is the right thing to ask here, or if I'm even allowed to ask it like this....
I have long ago seen a really beautiful dress. But in the store I only found similar dresses and not exactly this one. So I would like to ask if the artists and professionals could take care of my wish and "provide" me exactly this dress.

Here are the links to the dresses, which bereints go in this direction - but are not exactly this dress:
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-charming-witch-outfit-for-genesis-8-females
https://www.daz3d.com/gala-poses-for-genesis-female-81

I hope I am not violating any guidelines now.

thanks a lot

You want to be provided with a link to the "exact dress" you saw a long time ago, but you don't have a picture of the exact dress?

From your images it looks like a top and a skirt.

Are those DAZ Studio renders, or photographs?   Where did the images come from?  What year do you think you saw the outfit first?

  • these are real pictures of a real woman ...
    seen last year ....

You'll probably need to kitbash something into compliance. Maybe deal with the geometry editor as well. And slap it all with the same shader when you get it where you want it.

Neither portion looks difficult to find something in the same ballpark. I don't know that I've seen *exacrly* that top, but I've seen similar ones often enough that no single example stands out to me. The skirt doesn't look run of the mill, but it isn't that unique, either. The trick will be to find one that actually hangs from the waist instead of the hip. Might need to find an actuall *dress* and hide the top.

FInding or building *exactly* that outfit might not be easy, but you probably ought to be able to piece together a facsimile which has the same silhouette.

Here's a couple of Rendo products that might get you close to the long skirt (with center slit flap) with some modifications...

JMR dForce Leticia Dress for G8F by JaMaRe
    https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/bcs/jmr-dforce-leticia-dress-for-g8f/150316/

dforce Hypnotic - Genesis 8 by kaleya
    https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/bcs/dforce-hypnotic---genesis-8/134649/

The o-ring top is tricker... there are several long-sleeve shirts that tie in the middle, such as the Cowgirl outfits here on Daz3D, and there's the Dark Embrace 3 shrug, but no exact matches that I'm aware of. Good luck!

    Here's a possibility for the sleeves https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/bcs/7th-ave-hot-top-set-for-genesis-8-female/123416/

    https://www.daz3d.com/ring-bikini-and-sun-hat-for-genesis-2-female-s

If you need the "exact" outfit in the photographs you're most likely going to have to pay a 3D content artist to custom make it for you.

Wow, just checked out Lilflame’s store on Rendo and I really wish we had more clothes like that here! Sexy AND original designer clothing! The PA is here too but has none of the great clothes that they sell on Rendo. I’m spoiled by the great deals and sales here but the fashion is so limited here. I really wish @Lilflame would sell the type of clothes they have on Rendo here!

So why not just purchase it from there? half my content is from other stores. They tend to have great deals at rendo also.

  • I myself am not good at all in such things ...
    that's why I ask the professionals ....
what do I have to do? Who and how/where to ask?
I am open to anything -- and I would be the first to buy it

I would suggest making a user account at Renderosity.com and then go to a product or store page for one of the artists and click the CONTACT button near the top by the artist name. Send them a sitemail message asking if they create custom outfits and attach your sample photos.

Ask the estimated time-frame and cost to produce the outfit.  If it is an exclusive outfit only for your use, then it will cost more. But, if they can sell the outfit to others (non-exclusive), then they should be able to offer it for less. So, let them know if you want exclusive or non-exclusive usage rights.

Here are some artists that crank-out new products frequently and you may want to consider contacting (Compare their current outfit styles to narrow down the list): ArtOfDreams, JaMaRe, Kaleya, Lilflame, Lully, Nirvy, Rhiannon

You might want to double-check where your source is from. I don't *think* that copying a real world outfit which is in general distribution would count as a copyright infringement, but if that's a character from a film or some such, somebody might get shirty about someone copying it.

  • it is neither a film, nor a celebrity. At least the Google image search didn't reveal anything of the sort.

but the objection is extremely justified.

It is in fact illegal to copy real world fashion in a lot of cases - and for a number of reasons.

"Kim Kardashian West has been awarded $2.7m (£2.1m) in a lawsuit against fashion retailer Missguided USA. The reality star took the brand to court, claiming it was a “fast fashion” company using her name to sell clothes and was “notorious” for “knocking off” designer clothing she wore.Jul. 4, 2019". Google it - there's a ton of news coverage of it.

"In a French court ruling that may give fashion the same sort of copyright protection offered to software and art in America, Yves Saint Laurent won a total of $395,090 from Ralph Lauren yesterday, for "counterfeiting and disloyal competition."

Yves Saint Laurent had sued Ralph Lauren, accusing the company of copying a black tuxedo dress that Mr. Saint Laurent first created in 1966 and showed again during the haute couture fall collections for 1991-92." Again, Google it to find a ton of news coverage,

Costumes worn in movies and television shows, if not copytighted, will often be trademarked.  Like, you better not copy a Disney costume.  This area is a legal jungle.  If the costume designer claims the costume is a "work of art" instead of a utilitarian object, it's probably going to be protected.   Even movies and TV shows where the copyright has expired, may still have "underlying" copyrighted content imbedded in the movie.  As can be seen with the movie IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE:

"But the copyright-saga continued in 1993. While Republic Pictures had failed to renew copyright over the film in 1974, they still retained rights to the original story, “The Greatest Gift,” and also purchased rights to the film’s music. Relying on the recent Supreme Court case Stewart v. Abend, 495 U.S. 207 (1990), Republic Pictures notified all television networks to stop playing It’s a Wonderful Life without the payment of royalties. Republic Pictures then entered into an exclusive licensing arrangement with NBC, where It’s a Wonderful Life can be seen twice a year."  https://blogs.loc.gov/copyright/2017/12/its-a-wonderful-life/

On other 3D conent sites that do make 3D replicas of brand-name or designer furniture, they give you a warning that it may only be used for "editorial purposes", or that you may have to get legal permission from the company producing the original furniture to use the models.  Furniture is a "utilitarian" object so can't be copyrighted, but apparently the style or design can be copyrighted or trademarked.

I'm not a lawyer.  This is not legal advice.  Consult a real lawyer before copying anything.

Yeah, I did get a bunch of Lilflame’s outfits yesterday at 50% off but I’m used to 70-80% off deals here lol! I like a lot of Rendo stuff better but if you wait for deals, the prices are much better here.

  • Once in a while, things will go on heavier discount over at Rendo... just like everywhere, really. 70% is less common, but it happens over there just like here.

And, yeah, Lilflame has good stuff, and there are nice add-ons from other vendors that work with some of Lilflame's stuff (like benalive, with some neat textures and micropressure morphs for outfits like Conflict Dress & Wet Look Stockings). There's a lot of good stuff there for pinup work from many different artists, including those who sell things here at the Daz store.

Yeah I used to be Poser only and when Genesis first came out and was unusable in Poser, I only shopped there for many years but finally succumbed to learning DS a while after iRay came out and started shopping here again although I’d occasionally get V4 stuff on sale here during that time. 50% off doesn’t impress me after the $1.99 deals and some great blink sales here but there’s a lot there you just can’t find here. Hershel Hoffmeyer has some great sexy stuff here but in general the PAs seem to have the sexier stuff at Rendo and are more conservative here or more into fantasy stuff rather than real life sexy outfits.

Yeah, I wish there were more pin-up stuff here as well.

Once in a while, there's the outfit here where you can edit the surfaces or remove extraneous layers/straps/bits to show some more skin... but I 100% agree that there's more sexy/interesting pin-up style clothing over at the other site for both male and female figures.

They do go to 70% over at Rendo during extra special periods. (I don't keep a calendar or anything.) Then there's also their own "prime" membership, which has another layer of deals, of course. It can be worth it, but that's probably not a good discussion for this forum.

Daz has better deals, that is certain, and very high discounts are rare at rendo. But the base price is (generally) higher at daz for outfits ($16-24 for an outfit vs $10-16 at rendo). And most items at rendo have at least 5-8 textures in the base asset. So if you compare the discounted prices for an outfit with several textures, I am not sure who will win.

I purchase a large part of my outfits at rendo, but for other assets (envs, shaders, etc), daz is unbeatable either in quality or discounted price.
