In search of 50's retro style rocket
flashback

I'm looking for a model of a rocket in the style of the 50's scifi movies and book/comic covers. Needle shaped with fins, sleek and shiny.
Any help is appreciated.

Don't know if this will do, may have to change the texture yourself if you want it sleek and shiny. It's still available but only through the waybackmachine so if the page takes a long time to load click on the link Impatient? and it will load immediately. http://web.archive.org/web/20101204211440/http://www.aerysoul.com/free.html
Thanks for the link, I've found some bryce objects that would work except I use DS. :(
If anybody knows of a retro-style space suit with a bubble helmet that would be useful as well.
These should fit the bill:

You don't mention what figure you want it for. Shukky has one for Aiko 3 http://www.sharecg.com/v/32741/View/11/Poser/Shukkys-SpaceSuit-for-A3
And there's this for V4 http://www.sharecg.com/v/46946/View/11/Poser/Encounter-V4
You could probably refit the helmet from the A3 suit on to Vicki, I don't know if it's a figure and if you can parent figures in DS like in Poser.
Ooh, that encounter suit will do nicely! Thanks.
...there used to be a really nice one on Share CG that was looked as if it was inspired by the rocket ship from Destination Moon. Unfortunately after a recent search I can no longer find it.
Sad because the only copy I have is on a backup DVD that became corrupted.
Here is a retro style spacesuit for M4,H4,F4 over at Rendo: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=79854
That's exactly the kind of ship I'm looking for!
I've found a couple of .obj files I'm going to look at and see if one will do, but I'll keep an eye out for more.
@Art_Junkie, one more for the wishlist! Thanks.
...that is pretty classy. Couple with one of the rayguns below and your ready for some out of this world space opera action.

There's a vendor at Renderosity named Duo who specializes in classic retro spacecraft and such. Here's probably the best example: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/-famous-spaceships-of-filmland/84812.
You should check out his store.

...if you happen to find the one I mentioned on another site (or another model that is close in appearance), drop a link,
I believe someone also created the "Space Ark" from When Worlds Collide but again at a loss to remember where it was hosted.
...OK this is where I saw the Space Ark.
Alas, these are formatted only for Bryce. Retexturing characters in Bryce can be a real pain and the Daz -> Bryce bridge has become rather buggy as of late.
I'm working on another project right now, but I'm trying to get enough pieces together to do some fanart for Space Command.
Thanks for all the help and further suggestions, comments welcome.
I had several but can't find where most are from

Some of these might be too recognizeable, but personally I would kit-bash them:

I know you can take content from Studio into Bryce, but I know nothing about going from Bryce to Studio, sorry. I was wondering If that would be an issue or not when I remembered that Duo's stuff is mainly for Bryce.
There is one with a Collada file download option.

...thanks.
Also found a collada version of "Robby" from Forbidden Planet. Though unrigged, still nice to have.
Here's one from Traveler, over at RDNA that seems a likely candidate:
http://www.runtimedna.com/Technophilia-Retro-Gynoids-V3-Rock-It.html - even has a couple of bubble-helmets, configured for V4.
Well if you like Robby, there is a OLD lightwave & Poser model at www.arduino.com. log in, Go to free stuff, choose characters & go to page 12.
no link because there's a lot of adult material there.
I have one that I created from an old V2 outfit by Taruru. If you look at it, it would be impossible to get on or off, but it looks cool. Unfortunately the outfit is no longer available, but I bet you could duplicate the look with one of the free or paid industrial pipe sets.
I've always been fond of these

Here's a set at a nice price from rj001. They're in 3DA format, which might be easier to use than Bryce objects.

You might also want to check some of the other sets from rj001. Some really nice stuff at really good prices!
... I have been able to work with 3DS models in Carrara.
To convert them for use in Studio or Poser requires the ability to use PoseRay and possibly help of a modelling app like Hex or Blender.
@pwiecek Interesting, but I am reluctant to register with sites that primarily deal in "adult"content. The last time I did so several years ago (for a fairly innocent prop that had nothing to do with adult themes), my spam filter was forced to work overtime trying to keep emails from "questionable" sources out of my inbox.
I thought for a moment you meant renderosity. :)
