SOLVED - How to Post an Image in Forum?

How do you post an image in the body of a forum post? I know how to get the image into the body of the post, but how do you keep the size and the dimension ratio from changing?

Once you have posted,
It seems like a few steps but once you do it, it takes seconds and becomes second nature.
It is also a courtesy to check the box that has your image open in a new window if clicked on so as not to lose the thread you were reading when clicking.
Setting the width value to 800 pixels or less is the important part of maintaining the aspect ratio. If you don't do this then the forum automatically sets the width to 800 pixels but doesn't change the height; so, the aspect ratio is changed.
Check the box? What box? Where is the box?
The HUGE images are in this thread https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/522061/problems-with-dark-skin#latest
I set the width for 798 pixels wide. But they still show up filling the screen. I got frustrated and tried to just delete the pictures and start over, and I can't even delete them. They're gone as attachments, but they're still showing up. And now there is a terrible blue border around each picture I can't get rid of.
If you edit your post, right-click on your image and the dialog for image properties will come up. 800 is considered full width so try 400 instead. You can also just delete the image (which doesn't delete the uploaded image) and start over too...
So, I thought I would make a visual tutorial:
I rendered and placed the image in my gallery.
I then found the location and copied the url
next I added the image tag
I have to copy the URL from my gallery - where's my gallery? Do I have a gallery? What's the "image tag"? And where is it? What is it? I've been here 13 years and I don't believe I've ever posted an image before. Maybe I did 11 years ago, but I don't know where it's posted. Your render is a perfect portrait of our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Oh. I went to dye my mustache, and when I came back, my images are all gone. All that's left is the ugly blue border and 3 huge blank spaces. Now I have to get rid of the border (that I didn't even create). I think I can't delete the whole post - can I? Or will something terrible happen if I try to delete a post?
Ah, so many questions....
I don't know if you have ever posted in your gallery but it would be located at https://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#gallery=trending&page=1 or you can look at the top of this webpage at Community > Gallery. I just used a gallery image to keep things simple but, in your case, you attach an image, post, right-click on that attachment in the post and tell it to open the link in a new tab, copy the url, and then continue with the instructions... The image tag is that litle icon that shows a lttle landscape with a sun in the bar when you leave a comment; it has the parameters for when an uploaded image is, how big it is, whether it has a border, on and on as shown in my illustrations above.
Ok, I found my gallery. Apparently I did post 3 images that I don't remember.
Ok, I'm working on it. I was able to delete everything from the post. Now I'll try to upload them again and put them in the post again according to your instructions.
Thank you nemesis10 ! I was successful. You're right, it's second nature to me now.
My pleasure, I look forward to see what you post!
You can also use this thread to attach your images...
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/59113/an-ot-thread-for-images/p1
The idea behind this is that you can initially attach your full size images there, where they appear as a thumbnail only, then once posted you can copy the image link and use it in the relevant thread... This is primarily useful when doing a mini tutorial, or explaining something using images where you want to keep track of the images later... its also good if you want to keep track of your forum related posted images, because you can keep going back to that forum with your posted images and adding images to your post or posts ( by editing your post)... (as long as you bookmark that thread)... and they should be fairly easy to find...
Please note... to anyone who does find this idea interesting... you can and should attach multiple images to a single post before making a new one... please don't attach one or two images and make a new post... kinda try and fill it up as much as possible before moving on to a new post.
Some posts have 20 or more attached images and I have no idea what the limit might be... I find it pretty useful because I tend to use my iPad with the forums and don't keep a lot of images on it to conserve space, so if I want to reuse an image I've posted I can easily find it again (more or less)... I've made a lot of dumb jokes using photoshopped images or drawings and occasionally I want to recycle those images in another post... but on the rare occasions I do explain something, I can find those images to repost too...
But mostly it's dumb stuff.
So why not just post all your images in your gallery? Why go hunting around on your old posts just to repost an image?
I'm not a gallery person... galleries are for artists and I've been told that artists are people who make art and art is only art if people who know about art decide it to be art and only learned people who have been ordained by the great art turtle can understand art and only the great art turtle knows why this is and since nobody has ever seen the great art turtle, one must just accept that this is the way...
That... and would you put this in the gallery...?
Or these?
Galleries are for artists and their art... I just make stuff that people can briefly look at with their eyeballs until they are overwhelmed with disgust or lack of interest.
Those don't look half bad. I'd post them in the gallery. You can watch yourself grow with each project you post. Have some confidence in yourself. If anybody give you are hard time be sure to report it. Is that Silo you are using to model with? I've used Silo for a better part of 15 yrs. All the models in our DO's and brokered store were made from within Silo.
I don't have a gallery either - in fact I don't post my renders anywhere apart from a very few exceptions. Maybe I'm a bit weird but the fun I get from making up stories in pictures is quite personal and wouldn't mean much to others. So for me, creating a picture story is like reading a book or watching TV (both of which I do alone as I live alone). The only time I post images is to support the text of a forum post here. It is quite cumbersome compared to other forums but easy enough once you know how. IMHO this whole forum needs to be replaced by something better (and hosted by a more reliable server).
Oh, as an afterthought - I do have a long-term project which might be seen by family and friends as it contains re-imagined images of scenes from my life - especially my childhood. I have to work with the characters and props available so the scenes can't be truly accurate but I hope to make the images tell the story. Again, however, that's really a personal nostalgia trip and might not be of interest to anyone else.
The gallery is, as I recall, for more-or-less-finished 3D work (with or without 2D elements) so some of the things that are relevant to the forum (2D artwork, photos to illustate concepts, screenshots etc.) would not be allowed there.
They don't look half bad... it's more like 3/4s bad...
I choose instead to watch myself grow with each pork chop or pound cake I consume... and yup, that is Silo... I should probably use it more often, but I'm trying to get used to Blender more and more... ever since the GUI changes.
That sounded more like a medical condition than a technical makeover.
LOL, I mostly made my own UI with the most common things I use. I got some of the images from on the silo forum. The then made some of my own. The only thing that got me with the newest version is they changed a lot of the shortcuts.
What is your brokered store? And what are DO's?
Urp. I've posted WIP in the recent past. My bad then.
ROTFL at McGyver's sample cartoons!
