Would anyone know why I can't see thumbnails in DIM anymore?

I have tried and tried to get DIM to see thumbnails. I didn't just start doing this yesterday either, so I'm well aware of how to set up DIM when my files are on an external drive, etc and so forth. For whatever reason, DIM just quit seeing the thumbs. No matter where I put them. It's frustrating.

Edit: Oh, and the CMS is running btw.

TIA

I have been using DIM for years now and I never had icons in there, I don't think it even supports this feature though I am aware of the "retrieve thumbnail" option in the context menu (= right click somewhere in the list) but never used it.

Why would you even want icons in here though? The compact list you get is IMO one of its key features.

Oh, I have always had thumbnails. They're supposed to show when you hover over the name of a product. I like them because sometimes I forget what a product is by its name, but I can always remember by its thumbnail. I have no idea whatsoever why DIM just suddenly decided to stop showing them. Like I said - frustrating.

I've never seen thumbnails either. I always click the info button, the i with a circle around it. It opens the info page in your browser.

The icons aren't in DIM, they show as a tooltip when you hover over the product name in the list. There is a folder to set for the Thumbnail Archive in Advanced Settings -> Downloads. You also need to check the "Show Product Info Tips" at the top of the dialog.

I manually add the thumbs with the rightclick option, didn't know there was an automatic setting

they are set as my wallpaper folder on one computer so I get reminders of stuff I haven't used

They don't download automatically, you still have to get them yourself (and still getting those gi-normous 2600px images on most).

The exact same thing happened to me. https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/484891/are-thumbnails-for-dim-not-working-downloading#latest

I have no idea at all what I did to get them eventually working, but they did manage to.

I have these HUGE "thumbnails" for DIM. Images that don't even fit my small 1080p monitor. Here's the thumbnail for the Invisible Chair.

yeah a lot of them are like that, since the "new" store happened.

The thumbs are stored in a folder that I can't recall the name of......you should be able to go in and resize them in an image program...keep the same name, just make them smaller.

OMG, thank you. That was it. I never noticed that box was checked before. Thanks a million ;). Chalk one up for me for being observant. LOL cheeky

I run a batch in PS to make them all the same size and small ;)

I pointed to my thumbnail folder to match my custom install yet, there are only three that were generated in that folder...

Thankfully, most of mine are working now and look better now that I shrunk them all ;)

You do know if you go thru and check all your products, right click then choose "Missing in selected" for thumbnails it will download all the thumbs you don't have? They'll be all different sizes, which is really freakin' annoying, but you can do what I did and make them all the same size (I chose 300 pixels for the height - most of them are 231x300), which was a good size. Not too small, not too large. YMMV according to your monitor resolution :)

Well, this is something I should have known; TIL, (TodayILearned/acronym for non-reddit users) thanks for the info, and yes the varied thumbnail sizes may be annoying but not being able to select multiple entries means that I have to go by every, one which includes hundreds of entries which is borderline infuriating! <=Never mind, I was using Shift select instead of using the bloody checkboxes!

Still, I thank you for letting me know! laugh

In doing the batch resize I discovered a rogue thumbnail (I'm sure there's more than one but in my 20,325 this was the only one that glitched). It is for the 'Spuggles Special Edition ( TEST CONTENT)' (sku 23065).

In case anyone else wants it here is a thumbnail, sized at 300 pixels high.

This thumbnail was originally shared by memcneil70 in this thread, Whut? - Daz 3D Forums. Not my work, just resized it and sharing it again.
