Why did they remove the Heel bone from Genesis 8?

Hello guys,
Just a quick question. Genesis 8 is supposed to be superior to Genesis 3. If it is so, why Genesis 8 is missing a Heel bone? It was handy for rigging high heel shoes. You still can rig a shoe high heel to the Heel bone of Genesis 3. This way you can control the position of the high heel while posing your G3 figure. However, Genesis 8 has no Heel bone at all. How can it be an improvement? What was the reason for removing the Heel bone from Genesis 8?

We are customers just like you and um, they don't tell us why they do anything - normally. Perhaps it's so its Achilles Heel can't be hurt ;-) Seriously though, newer doesn't mean better. Each of the Genesis figures have their own strengths and weaknesses. We use the figure(s) that best suit the artwork being made. For example Genesis 2 figures come with mouth inserts for the purposes of 3D printing. Genesis won awards when it first came out - huge step forward in matters of rigging and morphing, etc. Genesis 3 came out - have yet to figure out why, but it did. And Genesis 8 is extremely close to Genesis 3 except it has the "A" launch pose instead of the "T" pose for purposes of draping the simulations in dForce. G8.1 came out with some changes to the facial rigging for purposes of animation.
...G3 transitiond from TriAx to General weight mapping. Bending was also improved over previous Genesis generations. .
Thanks for your feedback, Catherine! I totally agree with you that newer doesn't mean better. Nevertheless, it is an interesting step in the evolution of Genesis figures. They lost their heel bones. It reminds me of the way our own ancestors lost their tails once
Thanks! General weight mapping seems to be much easier to use. Seems to be a good imrovement.
same reason they call a node corver instead of corner in genesis 3 AND 8 and of course 8.1 too so it crashes Carrara on load
