The DAZ Gallery is one as they've stated in the past but with such a general term pick the one that you actually use.

I'm sorry I want to enter except for the one rule you have.

Post your submission on your social media profile with the hashtag #MadeWithDaz and tag Daz 3D in the post.

I have no social media profile, nor will I ever have a social media profile.

I do like the shows that portray the I D 10 Ts on social media.

Posting in the gallery here has been accepted in past contests with similar rules, so it might be enough this time too.

I really want to enter this, but it's going to be hard to create an image within the TOS for this one, LOL

Let's see headless runway model dead on stage - nope, werewolf snacking on young schoolgirl - nope, vampirella bathing naked in blood, - nope, man, gonna have to think on this one indecision

Stop giving me ideas! I don't have enough time to render what's in my head already! lol

Really might have to do the bathing in blood one...that's a good one...

Wait, which TOS would be applicable for this particular contest?

    How many entries are allowable?

    As many as you want.

Since you must post to the DAZ Gallery this time, that TOS would probably be the limiting factor. The last contest was rather vague, until it was later clarified. This one seems pretty clear. It also implies you can enter as many times as you like. There is only one prize awarded per person, tho.

It did last contest. I'm sure you can even use sites like Blogger, Vlogger, Wordpress, and so on. Even the DAZ Forums are technically social media.

Well it ain't clear to me!!

Follow Daz 3D on the social media platform of your choice.

I’m assuming this means Facebook on Safari

Post your submission on your social media profile with the hashtag #MadeWithDaz and tag Daz 3D in the post.

I haven’t a clue what is meant here. Make it simple for my aged brain. If I post it on my DAZ Gallery can I (or must I also post to Deviant Art) and what is meant by “with hash tag #MadeWithDaz and tag DAZ 3D in the post. These are terms I’m not familiar with at least as asked for here.

LSO Both my submissions have stories to go with them. What do I do with them?

  • Hey guys! I have two questions! One, by the daz gallery does it mean your own gallery or a general gallery? Also, are you supposed to post raw renders with just a little contrast adjustment and such, or can you do edits in facebook to improve upon the basic (mostly just filters not actually altering the image). Sorry, this is my first contest!

Just post on your Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook account and write #MadeWithDaz @Daz3D and follow them on one of those platforms. Also post to your gallery here. Really easy. You can write whatever you want in the body of the text. Twitter has character limits though.

Post in your Daz gallery (and your social media platform of choice.) I’ve never seen a rule here that says no postwork so I’m sure postwork is fine. Especially since they sell brushes here which would count as a Daz product.

  • I hardly dare ask this, but what dimensions (size, pixels, etc) are we looking at here, please? Do we aim for a render at 150dpi, 1200 x 800 pixels, for instance? Thanks - new to this contest thing! :D

The rules do not specifiy any set pixel dimesions (dpi), aspect ratio, or image size (https://blog.daz3d.com/spooktacular-render-contest-rules/), so anything should be fine. But, you may want to aim for a decent looking screen image either in portrait or landscape mode, such as the popular 16:9 aspect ratio (ex. 1920 x 1080 px -or- 1280 x 720 px). Really, it is totally up to you as an artist to choose what you think looks best for your image (and what your particular CPU and/or GPU can handle). Have fun creating!

  • Thanks, Robertswww! :)

    Keyframe = animation?

  • SlimerJSpudSlimerJSpud Posts: 1,453

Some social media apps crop a photo to square (Instagram), so you might want to frame a subject so it will still look good cropped square. Lately, I've been rendering at 3:2 with 3840x2560. That way, it'll look good at 4K, but it will probably survive being cropped square.

It also clearly says you have to post on the Daz Gallery. I think it was explained that a keyframe is a still image that tells a good story. As in, if this was an animation, which would be the key frame that tells most of the story. You'd think by now, they would get better at explaining these things...

Thanks.  Yea, a bit confusing, especially if you're not on social media and familiar with the terms there.  So in this context a Keyframe is simply a render cropped square, I presume.

In this context I would take 'keyframe' to mean an image, like a still from a movie. Given that 'Keyframe' is it's own category, that's how I would take it - like, a still image that tells a story, or something. The image attached, for example (not my image, but a fantastic render by CWRW from the gallery). Whereas the 'character' section would be more of like a portrait or full-frame shot of some kind of creature or villain or some other horroresque being.

Well like they say "Every picture tells a story".  ;)  But I get the idea.

I guess the idea for that render is from The Jungle Book, so if you have read that book you "know the story" behind it.  If not, you have to make up your own story for what's going on and some picture stories are more obvious than others.

    Well, enough nitpicking... ;)
