I love this and it looks so damn good right out of the box. I hope there are plans for many more!

I like this. I had to wish list it. I picked up the sci fi Marina and don't have the cash for this, but maybe next month.

I've got the item in my wishlist, and would have posted a link for you, had you not said "ffs".

VERY happy with dry mud desert!!!

    - It has 4000x4000 resolution diffuse and displacement maps that are tileable.

That way you can zoon in very close to the ground and the displacement still has fine details.

    - - -

    @ Use in OctaneRender

When you autoconvert the 3Delight specific shaders like "tiling" get lost.
You can recreate the original look though in OctaneRender by using the X and Y scale options that achieve the same effect.
You have to experiment a bit with the displacement settings as well.

In this example I exchanged the skydome with procedural cloud volumes created with the technique discovered by profbetis.
I also used the default daylight environment and choose Lake Victoria in Kenya as map location to get the low evening sun ray angles found in that area.

    - - -

Would be interested in more sets that cover a huge area while still offering high detail tileable ground and displacement maps!

Thanks for that. Are the mountains in the distance actual mesh or part of the skybox?

I have quite a few large terrains I have done myself with HD tiles, but they lack the upward terrain in the distance.

    Nice render BTW

Thanks, hadn't even noticed. Wonder if that included all my Mod deleted posts, LOL I moderate for 5 different forums in other communities, so i tend not to pay attention to post counts.

    Thank you!

Next time I might try a mix material with either a glossy material or some SSS for the ground.

    - Near mountain
    - Far mountain
    - Ground
    are actual meshes

    - Dust Haze
    - Far Haze
    - Sky
are curved planes and sky domes

Btw: Ignore the mess with all the different nodes. I was trying different Kernel and camera combinations and left the unused ones in the scene...

just a fast created scene with the "dry mud desert" so special camera fixings and only one AoA distant and one AoA ambient light but I think it is not sooo bad

I grabbed it as soon as I saw it. I love it. Haven't had much time to play with it but this is a quick render I did. I switched out the sky and used the sky from Seascapes by petipet (sp?)

I haven't bought it yet, but based on the replies here, I would say yes for the most part. Since I only render in Luxrender, looks like the terrain will do well, but you will have to disable the skydome, replace it or turn it into a light for it to show.
I plan on getting it during the march madness sale.
