How do you get this hair to appear?

https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-longflip-hair-for-genesis-8-females I bought this hair on September 19th, but it only seems to appear in the smooth or texture shader, not the Filament PBR or (importantly) the Iray shader. What should I do about this? Is there a way to fix it?

It's Daz's Strand Based Hair (SBH).

SBH normally only shows in a final Iray render, not the Iray Preview, as it generates a very large amount of geometry that is not well optimised for situations where the user can interact with the scene. It is best to preview it by doing renders to a new window, rather than trying to view it in the main viewport...

... but if you really insist, it can be made to show by increasing the Viewport Tessellation in its parameters. Don't go above 3 for preview purposes. Note that this may still be less dense than will appear in the final render, which is something controlled by the hair's surface parameters.

Awesome! That Works! I was figuring that if it doesn't show up in the viewport, it won't appear in the render. But I have done a render now and it IS there! Then I found out how to change the "Viewport Line Tessellation Sides" setting under the hair's parameters. I changed it from 1 to 2, and Boom! It appears in the viewport! Thanks for the quick answer! I am uploading a couple of phone photos of my screen, but I'm not sure if they'll show in this comment. The first one is of the render successfully displaying the hair, and the second is of the viewport in Iray mode successfully displaying the hair, with the changed parameter in the lower right corner.

  • Please use something like the Snip And Sketch App to take screen shots, they will be much clearer than photos of the screen.
