I know this has been asked before on other topics, but I've trawled through them and didn't find an answer. Does anyone know what dogtags were used in the Dain 8 promos?

Maybe these: https://www.daz3d.com/bits-n-pieces-dogtags-and-chain-for-michael-4
ETA: and some free texture settings for them: https://www.daz3d.com/bits-n-pieces-dogtags-and-chain-free-material-settings
It might be from https://www.daz3d.com/army-uniform-for-genesis-3-male-s-and-genesis-2-male-s
Even though the male one doesn't show the tags in the preview, it's in the female one: https://www.daz3d.com/army-uniform-for-genesis-3-female-s-and-genesis-2-female-s
I only have the female version, but the male version description shows "dog tags" as well, not sure why they're not rendered in the promo
Could be wrong
Those are plain metal and don't have the plastic holder like the ones in the Dain 8 promo

It's these....I had to look forever too.

I'm not so sure. The tags that come with Alex don't have the border that the ones in the Dain promo have.
Perhaps these are the ones from the Dain promo? I'm not really sure, but have a look and see if they're what you're looking for (or close to it.)

Those also do not have the border.

Ack! I wasn't receiving email notifications about the replies to this thread. My apologies for my lateness to everyone who replied.
All the suggestions listed here are also what I found before I started this thread. Close, but not quite. The close ones are all missing the black edge around them. I thought maybe they were supposed to be part of Herschel Hoffmeyer's add-on pack for the Tactical Assault outfit, because the dogtags fit the style of the outfit and for a military outfit, it's odd that dogtags are missing-- but there's nothing listed on the product pages, on either the original product or the add-on. Unless there's a second add-on pack in the works, but I don't think that likely considering how long ago the outfit was released and how many new products have been released since.
I guess I'll have to keep looking, hoping someone releases some new dogtags-- or find some tutorials of how to make the ballchain and tackle some dogtags myself. :)
Thanks for everyone's input!
Making a dogtag is fairly easy if you have a 3d modelling program.
I made this in blender.
If interested you can get it as an obj-file, but you have to apply your own textures and a chain. The writing is a normal map.
The dogtag itself is a very simplistic shape, it's the chain that I expect to give me the most trouble to create.
That is a great looking dogtag! It's also very generous of you to share it. Thank you! I won't decline, as it will give me something to study as I tackle making my own models. :)
Attached is a zip file with the obj and the UV layout. The obj imported to Daz Studio shall be imported at 10000% to be to scale.
Doing a simple chain is fast. If more complex then of cause longer. I did a simple one with 60 polygons per section, and I assume there might be 100 sections in total so 6k polygons. The harder part is to get it properly aligned with the character.
I know from the workflow between Poser and Blender that the scale is a bit hinky, but thanks for letting me know what scale this needs to be imported at. It'll save lots of trial and error. :)
I haven't done much work in Blender with curves, but I expect that's the way to get the chain to work. If the curve drapes around the neck and is positioned correctly on the character, then it should be pretty easy to get everything in the correct position. The length of the chain, how it drapes and the shape of it around the neck- the curve should control all of that. Plus, the polycount would be expected to be pretty high to preserve the shape of the balls in the chain, so I'm not worried about that.
Thanks again for this! :D
Yes, the above chain is made in blender with curves.
Did you ever get this to work? I'd like to find some dogtags that work on Genesis 8 male. I tried the Alex ones and failed. In the end, I rendered them alone and added them in photoshop. I'd like one I can make move with the model.
Unfortunately, no I haven't had a chance to try and get this to work or make my own dogtags. RL exploded in my face and art had to be put on the backburner for a while. I'm slowly getting back to it now, though slowly because things are still crazy for me, but this project has slipped down the queue of importance for the next little while. Hopefully I will be able to get to it within the next couple of months.
