[Need Help] System restarted when rendering the scene and now the scene won't load.

Hello everyone,

Like i mentioned in the title, i was rendering the scene and my system crashed, the power cable was a bit loose. Now after fixing the cable i restarted the system and tried to open the scene it gave me an error "An error occured when opening the file" Now it won't load, and the scene i was working on before the current scene is also giving the same error (but i had the backup file of that scene). Other scenes are loading fine.

So can i fix that scene? If not then Is there a way to transfer a pose from an exported gen8 male obj character model to gen8 figure? I had exported the my Gen8 Male character as an obj file for Marvelous Designer to make the outfit. The outfit isn't rigged yet, and it was a lot of work for me to make a pose and then set the created outfit on def pose to the posed body and there were multiple layers.

Is there a way where i can import the exported obj file of my character and then transfer it's pose onto the actual character instead of setting up my character's pose one part at a time to match the obj character?

I have been working on the for 3 days now, if there is a way plz let me know. I'll really appreciate the help.

  • I think i solved the problem, I duplicated the scene file and then load the duplicated file and it loaded fine.

Don't work on scene files. Save out your scene's components as presets so you can rebuild it easily when something like this happens.

If you have the obj file, you can just import it into Daz Studio. You won't be able to manipulate the Daz rigging or properties/morphs, but as long as the UVs and material areas are intact you can copy the materials over and apply a smoothing modifier to the clothing to make it cling to the body.

Yeah i normally do that. i save the pose, material, lighting etc presets. When working on this scene I didn't, forgot to do it.

Yeah putting the cloths on the obj file was my 2nd option as the body was looking exactly the same as an actual figure but thankfully the duplicate scene file loaded perfectly and making presets the first thing i did and also resaved the scene as well and made the backup.

  • Do save the scene, it's far less fiddle to reload, but yes it is a good idea to also save presets as insurance.

    Absolutely untrue.

If you have four figures in a scene but only need to adjust one, why in the world would you endure Daz Studio's bloated figure loading procedure four times in a row? Also, less figures in your scene means less time deleting them when you close it. Load what you need when you need it.

A common practice is to set up the scene, save the scene, close the program. Open the progrm, load the scene, RENDER the image. The closing of D/S frees something called memory which may be required to render the image ;-)

And how does that help me avoid loading multiple figures and staring at a loading bar for five-fifteen minutes when I just want to adjust some props on a shelf or tweak the lighting?

Then you weren't ready to render were you.

Have covered how to have faster load time of figures in other threads.

And if you do want to reload the entire scene it's a fiddle. I have nothing against saving presets/subsets too but saving the fuill scene, for future work or to have access to the whole thing at once, is also sensible.
