"Blending" textures in Daz

In Poser, I can use a "blender" node to have one texture change into another texture by inputting both textures into the node and adjusting a percentage. Is there a way to do tis in Daz?  I've tried lookin through the shader mixer but can't find anything that seems to be similar.  Also, any really good in-depth tutorials on how to use the shader mixer? The few I've found are several years old and skip over a lot.

There are a few products in the store that will help blend textures together. Checking out how they work, one may be able to make similar masks to employ with the shaders.

    Here is one product: https://www.daz3d.com/oso-blendy-two-layer-shader-for-iray

In Iray, what you're referring to is called "weighting". You want the weighted layering nodes.

For blending textures daz studio uses LIE (layered image editor), that's accessed from any texture selector. For blending material layers, that's another thing, daz studio uses geoshells. Otherwise there's also the 4 layer uber shader in the shader presets, that gives some limited material overlay.

  • I guess I'm not clear on the difference between "blending textures" and "blending Layers".  What I want to do is have two different textures on a figure (say G8) at the same time and be able to slowly change from one texture to another during an animation. It sounds like weighting the layers, but not sure if the terminology is correct for what I want to do.

Yes, that is weighting, as defined by the Iray specs. However, I'm not sure if Daz Studio supports animating texture properties.

Daz barely supports animation in general.

  • If I could make it change in a series of images, I'd be ecstatic.

Somebody else posted a link to a script. I've never used it, since I long ago learned not to animate with Daz Studio. Blender can do what you're looking for easily, but if you really want to stick with Daz, try this:
