Rosa Maria 8.1 - curves curves curves ! ! !

JabbaJabba Posts: 1,460

Salma Hayek is on the phone, she wants her curves back... but Rosa Maria is saying "no way baby, they're mine now!"

Her sensational shape places Rosa Maria right at the top of the list for anyone doing pin-up work - a magnificent addition to the 8.1 genepool.

She almost looks like someone I know IRL but the nose is totally wrong.

In other words, she is an accurate Hispanic character, at least to me.

She is gorgeous, and her face and body shape are very realistic. Good job DAZ. The promo renders do not do her (and many 8.1 core characters) justice though. The lighting always showcase waxy bumpy orange peel skin, which is the exact opposite of what the PBR shader supposed to do: creating less waxy and more lifelike skin.

I like her and the mega bundle reminds me of the old pro bundle structure. This is the first bundle I’ll be getting on release day for ages. She kind of reminds me of a Mousso girl and I love Mousso girls!

  • Yeah, super pretty, definitely Mega Bundle in the cart... just a matter of figuring out what I want to buy alongside the Hugh Jass bundle.

Same here. Store credit now at zero.
Rosa Maria's first success is to stop me buying anything else.

I feel the same, the shader as rendered in the promo pictures makes me not want to  buy the product. Maybe some user community renders will provide a more favorable view of the shader.

I thought she was very pretty with a very nice shape, but I wasn't thrilled when I saw a close up of the skin on her face. :(

As a hispanic man who grew up in East L.A (99% hispanic people), I can confirm that this is accurate. She is one beautiful señorita. The artist on here did a wonderful job and they should be proud. Nicely done.

Just add some bondo and it'll get smooth wink

It seems to be the new 'trend' with the promo pics... I get it if they want to show the effects of SubD 5 up close, but then it should be explained in the promo.
There has been quite a number of similar cases, but when some brave customer has bought them and shown their renders, layers of bondo has not been needed.

I think I prefer Gabriela, but Rosa Maria is definitely a welcome addition.

She's... ok. Not my favourite 8.1. Posted here without HD or tweaks. Using the same cheap render pre-sets I always use for these threads.

(I don't know why Daz light the promo images lthe way they do, I never know what I'm going to end up with. Perhaps they're more keen to show off the scuplt then the textures?)

(^with Catty, who is a favourite)

I think she works better for full body renders.

    With Pablo

Compared to some gen 8 girls.

I like her, and her bundle. It is saddening  how much better stuff is made for women than men in the store. I mean poor Pablo can't even have his lips done right..Let alone all the outfits and stuff this new figure has.

LOL, can't publish to my gallery for some reason.

Anyway, seems like her Detail weight is too high or something? Closeup bits get really bumpy.

Nice render! She does not look bumpy comparing to the promo renders. I still blame the lighting of the promo renders. But I hope DAZ knows that the pores on many recent characters' face actually look like mild acne scarring and their skin at the knees looks like sandpaper. Many people just do not have skin that rough. But no big deal, just tone down the bump and normal and it would be good.

I agree on the skin details. Some people like the sandpaper-y skin look, but I'm not a huge fan.

I think a lot has to do with the Detail channel on the new PBR Skin shader. That's one dial I usually cut down to fit my tastes.

    .....

Another simple Rosa Maria render. I cut the Detail Weight on the Skin surfaces to 0.3 instead of 0.6, so that removes some of the tiled normal maps.

I was very zealous with the crop because I couldn't guarantee full enough coverage of the breasts at that angle, so I cropped it instead of waiting for the mods.

This is a quick out of the box "render." This is acually a screenshot of the iRay preview because this simple scene with not even the skirt on the bottom crashed every time I tried to render. I have a 1080ti. Anyone else having problems with the combination of her and this hair? Default HDRI.

This is the same image with minor tweaks in Photoshop to bring out details. The skin is definitely too waxy and needs to be tweaked from within DS. And the face and body seem to be slightly different colors/temperature and this is just the default HDRI so lighting shouldn't have made a difference.

The main ussue is that she (or the hair or both combined) crash my computer with a 1080ti. She's at SubD3 by default. I'll have to test if I can render her at subD 2.

Also this shade of light “brown” for Conga hair looks like grey hair that hasn’t been colored since Covid lol.

I’m testing it again now and I think they switched the labels on light brown and blond.

  • Yeah, I also dropped her subD because it was a little too much with what I had in the scene.

I also dial down the Detail Weight because I'm not a fan of that much skin texturing, but that's my preference.

I have a 3090 card and when I got her, I put her in a scene with the dForce soft curls, and an outfit with emissive planes for lighting, no environment at all, and my computer locked up. It's pretty insane at how often it's seeming to happen where I get something new and then I find it's too much for my system. She was able to render when I used a non-dForce hair and I brought the sub D down one or two notches. She looks wonderful though.

  • Yay, fixed my gallery. I guess I was zoomed in too much for the UI.

Anyway, Rosa Maria is smoking, LOL.

I turned the SubD to 2 and added in the HD morph (which seemed to do nothing.) I removed the detail layer, but it’s still super bumpy and waxy upclose. I really hate these new 8.1 skin shaders. I think I’m going to stop buying characters that only come with the new PBR shaders. This is tweaked in Snapseed for contrast. I could not get a decent render out of the box with this skin so far, it doesn’t reflect light well. I would have to play with shader settings quite a bit. I’m having a real problem getting the skin the way I like it.
