Has anyone else lost their cursor in 4.15??

First time....I was working on a scene and lost the cursor. Go outside the application window and there it is. Go back into the app window and nowhere to be found. Anyone else or was it just a glitch on my end?

  • It happens occasionally. Just try and start with the mouse in view at the bottom of the screen and move the mouse to the box with perspective view/camera view/etcetera and click on it and the cursor will come back. You'll have to play around till you get it in the right spot but it'll work.

In the end, I had to do a control+S and close DS. I guess I couldn't find the right "spot" :-/

  • Dang sorry to hear that. This has been an issue I've experienced at random times since 4.12. It happened the most during 4.14 for me, and it always happens at inopportune times when you're in a groove.

It happens if you accidently click with both left and right mouse buttons at the same time on the Orbit, Dolly or Pan controls in the Viewport.

It's been fixed in the latest public build (beta) btw.

  • Yes, this happens to me as well. I've always just ended up closing DAZ and restarting it. Fortunately, it's not that hard to get to File->Save so I've never lost anything. Ctrl+S would have been easier LOL.

I was sure it was because I did something goofy...lol...but I wasn't sure what ;). I'm always chasing cats off my desk, so heaven only knows what buttons I'm pushing half the time :P. I tried working on the scene again, and this time DS just plain quit. It was open one second and POOF!, gone the next. I think I'm done for the night ;). I'll try the beta tomorrow. LOL

    Thanks :)

  • Fortunately I've never had that happen, but I have had one cat in particular try to help me with my typing in DS. He seems to hate the 'Return' key and hits it as if it's an insect that needs squishing. He's not always in sync with what I want to enter, so CTRL-Z often gets used when he's around. The other thing I find, he's not very transparent. So when he's chasing the cursor across the screen, there are large areas blotted out by black fur.

    Regards,

Never seen this. Mouse/Trackball driver update? Wild guess.

Currently running 4.10 and 4.11, and seeing it in both of them, too.

I can't remember whether I encountered loss of cursor when using 4.15, but 4.14 was absolutely the real nightmare - it happened soooooo frequently.
  • http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/change_log#4_15_1_63 shows the fix, currently only the Public Build (the beta) has it.

Thanks. Will try the beta and hopefully it doesn't disappear on me. LOL

    Thanks folks :)
