Renderosity Smart content?

Maybe I'm not using the right search terms, because I'm asking the question wrong, but is there a way to get stuff I buy from Renderosity and the like, to show up in my Smart Content are the way Daz3D products do? Or is that a proprietary thingie only available to Daz3D products?

Yups. It's actually why I love DS so much: it provides full support for just about everything. Heck, you can even generate / set up your own RSL shaders!

Now... the process is somewhat complex and has been documented a lot already (I tried, can't find the posts right now).

However, I did briefly explain it in one of my blog posts about Daz Studio: https://shelluser.wordpress.com/2020/11/15/freemium-done-right-daz-studio/

If you only want the process: scroll down to "Powered by PostgreSQL", it's right below the silly screenshot with Genisis + haircut.

    In short:

    • Find the item(s) in your content library (in an actual physical folder).
    • Right click the pane tab and select the "Content DB editor".
    • Apply an appropriate Type for your item as well as a category.
    • Done!

If you want to make an item compatble with another one....  use the "Compatibilities" tab in the editor mentioned above.

I hope this can help give you some ideas.

Also: I happen to know that some scripts or tools or whatever do exist, but you really don't need 'm and while this process can gobble up some time it's actually quite easy once you got your fingers behind it.

    Hope this can help!

  • Some will come with the needed metadata, and probably have Install manager-friendly zips. For the rest, you can do it by (optionally) creating a product for it (if  ost of the fils are in one place you can right-click on their folder), setting the base compatibilitis for the loaded content, then going through the emtadata (right-click again) to set types and compatibilities, and to asssign categories.

Theres also Content Wizard that will install for you and you can install the metadata.  Commercial thread.

Not something I'd be willing to plunk $40 down for, but I'll keep an eye on it for when it's on sale.

Just discovered this, and now I have a backlog to get through, but man, is it going to make my life easier eventually.  Thanks ShelLuser!
