Invisible Reins?

I just looked at Going for a Ride and we STILL don't have reins. Even the developer didn't get reins. The fact that they actually approved the product with characters posing with invisible reins if beyond belief. We now have three products that are supposed to work together that are incomplete and virtually useless. Can we PLEASE get reins for the carriages?

Oh god that is so funny.
with dforce one would think reins would be easier to make than they ever have been too.
it only needs the bits and bridle fitting to the horse and a moveable straps that can dforced and pinned to the hands, no rigging even just an up down back forward morph
my main issue with existing ones (I admit to not having tried since I don't usually animate in DAZ studio) is they are likely not welded and the material zones would need to be set up for simulation
(yeah I rig them in Carrara and use tracking there
I should try stuff in DAZ studio more)
I'm not sure it's that "simple" - there are potentially three independent points of attachment (horse's head,. rider's left and right hands) for an item that forms a loop from the first attachment point, through the next two, and back to the first. Also, narrows straps (whether on reins or clothes) can be tricky to get right, and generally need to be flat ribbons which would be very obvious with reins where there is clear space around them in many poses.
maybe hit up Linday to create a dforce set since this set has a dforce bridle and it works fairly well. https://www.daz3d.com/fantasy-dark-knight-armor-for-daz-horse-2
I have to admit, looking at the promos it is very odd not seeing any reins and it does surprise me it was released this way. At least they didn't post work the reins and then having everyone in the forums wondering where they got them, LOL.
I own that set too, and haven't used it (in DAZ studio)![blush blush](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/embarrassed_smile.png)
As there are cars that drive themselves, those horses are evolved versions and do not require guidance from the driver.![wink wink](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.png)
I'm setting up a scene with one of those carriages right now and while I have a bridle from another set, the reins have been the hold up. In fact, the entire scene is on hold until I figure out the reins.

I've heard that there are reins on the pleins in Spein.![enlightened enlightened](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/lightbulb.png)
This is a quick test of reins simulated.
It can be done.
I didn't buy the pose set, because I thought it looked to stupid without reins.
This has always been a problem with carts, wagons, and sleighs here at DAZ. There are three wagons and sleighs with reins that could work, plus one if you want to use a reindeer.

Except your reins look like they are made from a VHS tape. And making real rope type reins work with dforce, good luck. This will have to be done as morphs or existing cable or rope assets with morph bends or just lots of segments one can tweak out. I would actually find it much simplier to bring the posed assets into Blender, draw line curves in 3d and apply a follow curve on a pipe twist and then set UV, texture, import back to Daz. That is some extra work, but would look more realistic and you would have much more control over the flow of the reins.
rigged ones work best but in DAZ studio at least only good for still images![wink wink](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.png)
Dforce likely could work but the reins need to be tubes and have inflation so they don't collapse, VWD can do this
For what it's worth, there are reins in https://www.daz3d.com/english-saddle-for-daz-horse-2 and https://www.daz3d.com/western-saddle-for-daz-horse-2, which are both part of the horse's starter/pro bundles. The western one is also part of the Holt 8 Wild West bundle.
But those are for riding, way too short for carriages.
Having thickness is the culprit of dForce.
But it can be done with simple shapes.
The Thickener script would definitely make a difference for these ;)
This is my obligatory Blender advocation. This could be done in Blender in slightly more time than it would take to export the relevant objects via .obj. Uou don't have to become Ian Hubert... just learn enough to fix minor things like these and your experience with DS will be greatly improved. No more appealing to deaf ears for things that are never going to happen.
I figure, if you have a rigged tube or rope somewhere in your library, it would be easy to use two of those, attach them back to back to the hand(s) of the character, and then pose each one in a nice curve back to the briddle. Flatten them to look more like leather strips instead of ropes. Probably easier to do for still images than for animations. Anything long with lots of bones, like rigged whips or snakes could be repurposed to reins with a bit of effort.
That looks a bit better, try using the the thickner as someone pointed out, I've not picked it up yet but probalby will on next purchase.
Also can you subdivide and create a weight map on the end you hold, that's now the goofiest part....excluding the horse.

just the basic reins scaled of course get too wide but made a separate surface with geometry editor do simulate,
maybe just a morph needed (using Blender, Hexagon or Carrara etc) but yes tubes would go better than ribbons
I was looking into reins and I guess they are mainly flat belts, I just assumed they were ropes.
For anyone that can not be bothered to set up dForce reins then it is possible to use reins from other sets with some tweaking to get them to fit. First image show the reins from the Horse Drawn Carriage, mentioned above, with the driver using one of the poses from this set. I only had to make minor tweaks to the arms and hands to get them to fit. I also used the head harness from the HDC set.
The second image uses the reins from the i13 Greek Chariot set, (https://www.daz3d.com/i13-greek-chariot), also a DO set that can be picked up cheap from time to time. I had to make more signicant changes to the driver pose to get this to fit.
Both of these reins are props, not rigged, but they do contain morphs to help pose them
