How to use Hot Metal Shaders

Just bought this product with very high hopes of doing a red-hot fork for a larger render.

The product page talks about various controls but all I see in DS is the usual geometric, tile repeats etc. I'm only getting part of the gradient, and so my render is pretty much all red. I want that white hot to red gradient. How?

There are no special controls in the shader parameters, but various utility shader settings that affect only certain channels (luminance patterns, or opacity mask).

Is the object you want to texture uv-mapped? The shader uses a square tile to cover the entire uv map used by the object, so if it only uses a small corner of that map, it will only get the corresponding area of the shader's bitmap. You would need to adjust tiling and maybe offsets to get the shader bitmaps to align with the area used by the intended target.

  • Thank you - I will try that!!!
