To the "600" or so ....

Okay, slight misunderstanding has been cleared up.

So, it's over at DeviantArt, same handle as here.

And to all ... ideas for future items?

Keeping in mind "huge sets" are out of the question, I model with Hexagon ;-)
I do have a collection now of merchant resources so yes, can be more inventive with skins, characters, etc. but to have no more misunderstandings here, those things which need to be commercial will be hosted over at DA., the freebies still I plan to put at sharecg.com.

I'm confused... there were only 300 Spartans... unless they were all twins... Actually, that's probably not what you were referring too, that movie was years ago and sadly nobody gets the reference anymore when I yell "This is Sparta!" because I'm disappointed by something.

Anyhoo... I feel like I missed something in a previous thread... What is this about?

just put a link to your DA in your sigline

while commercial posts by NonDAZ vendors not allowed AFAIK a sigline link to your site is OK

Sharecg has an option to sell items, so you could still host your commercial items there as well, if you wish. Of course I have no idea how many sales this will generate, but I suspect very few compared to commercial brokers like this site.

Yeah, they thought it was going into the store, so had left it there ... then it didn't [because I didn't even submit it for consideration, I mean really, it wasn't THAT great] ... we'll get there. All those "how to install" images I put into a journal post over at DA too.

Well I do have a lot of free images, some textures etc. over there too, so a link in the siggie sounds like a good idea, thanks Wendy.

McGyver  "a previous thread" hehehe ... nah, I make magical threads that go "poof" ... sniff, I'll be okay, it's the allergies yah.

    ..............

    Okay done.

I do believe we have discovered that the number of views at DA gets stuck at 1K. I have "one" image posted with 1K views :-) It's by NASA.

Oh Sharecg is a very popular site that has been around for years. But DA has a maturity veil. I had made a Bonus free item, the idea of which came from a "family friendly" comedy movie however on its own it would need be veiled. So far the reviews I got back about that is that it is "very funny."

We can't talk too much about it ;-)

Apparently it was a grey area that kinda went black and then poof, 'k.

Catherine made something using a merchant resource so needs to sell it.

Only DAZ PAs can link their stuff on the forum and no unsolicited links by others.

Over 600 people were watching and waiting ... and somebody was anticipating it would enter the Store ... that would be neat ... but skins with only a diffuse image are not going to pass I know that and so did not bother submitting it. For a 'normal' character yes would have 'all' the available skin textures so one can look at pores I guess if they really fancy that BUT one cannot get too fancy with pores without Zbrush and to already be a PA and so have access to HD plugins for morphing with ... and oh yeah, minor detail, a MASSIVE computer upgrade from little ol' gaming laptop that chokes on 1 HD G8.1 cranked up, what did they have now, 5 or something ... wowser, nope.

Massive computer upgrade ... oh about, wait there'd be taxes, let's say would cost hopefully under 10K. Now I don't know about all you guys, but for somebody hitting into their um, golden? years, to spend 10K in order to make freebies and/or some sellable at Daz3D pore ridden character is not something I can justify to myself. Hopefully I will be able to find something under 5K eventually and be able to render images of said characters that others have made. Those 2 dollar specials are wonderful bargains. IMHO everybody should learn something about how to texture a figure ... and how to make hair ... and that all would surely increase the purchases made of skin textures and hair lol ...  btw if diffuse images are put only on the diffuse channel, the figure would render WHITE ... so the diffuse image was plastered all over the place so it renders looking like hybrid flesh. As D/S only weighs in an image once per scene, this hopefully has Mr. Jones weighing not too heavily for those of us with laptops.

In the meantime, from the PCFAD sales, I did find these items which clicked as excellent items to try out on Mr. Jones:

    https://www.daz3d.com/alascanus-hair-for-genesis-8-males-with-dforce

    https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-alascanus-outfit-for-genesis-8-males

    ..........................................

In the meantime, for those who were caring, yes, the Aquarian Queen is still flowing water through the legs ... not quite like Niagara Falls, however it is draining my overall strength ... BUT the pain thankfully is subsiding ... and here I shall put an unpaid for plug for those under the desk foot pedal things, they're great!

And thank you Wendy 'cause I had no idea how to word all that successfully.

btw - apparently there really is a movie about "The 600", not a link I feel is okay to post here though. About a genocide in Africa.

Out of curiousity, what country are you in? I built a new computer from scratch a few months back, and the total came in at under $3000 (i think it was about $2400 or something in total). Got the pieces bit by bit, took me about three months or so to complete? Just buying something every fortnight on pension day, with my brother buying the HD for me (don't know why, I think he was just in a good mood that day LOL) And I'm in Australia where prices of computer components are WAY more expensive than USA. You certainly don't need to spend $10K to be able to create freebies for DS!

I'm in Canada. I have never built a computer in my life.

I was planning on shopping at Canada's Computers [basically the only computer store around] and the RTX 3090 64GB itself ballparks somewhere over $6 grand. Taxes are about 13% plus some type of ecology fees. [most senseless thing I've ever heard of, it's to cover the cost of throwing things out in the garbage BUT we are not supposed to throw computers out in the garbage, so why are we being this fee? We're not supposed to ask 'cause apparently nobody knows.] And of course one still needs to get an appropriate monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.

As a hobbyist wanting to use a 3D modeler like 3D Coat or Zbrush, and render Iray in D/S on scenes with maybe 2 or 3 HD characters [with pores] wearing hair and clothing maybe there's another card I could be looking to acquire but I don't know what it would be. Open to suggestions.

Just to be clear, that link goes to full computer towers, not just the RTX 3090. You don't need a $3,000 monitor - heck, you really don't even need a $300 monitor if you aren't gaming and won't have stuff zooming and flashing across the screen.

Oh okay. So then all I would need is a normal decent monitor, keyboard and mouse. What holds the "VRAM" - is that on the monitor or in the RTX 3090 or ??

And I should mention maybe that while I don't play games, I do like to make the occasional movie with my photos, so do need a decent monitor for that.
