Help parameters acting strange

Not sure if I can describe the issue I am having well, but I will try. It used to be that if I had a figure in the scene, and I selected it, I would see pretty much everything in the parameters tab. Now, I see a message that says something like select a node to see options for that node. If I hit the ALL button, then I see everything, but like with transforms, I have to select each one (rotation, moving up and down) individually. If I hit the transform button I get the "select a node" message. I figure I must have deselected something I had selected, but I cannot figure out what I did. If this makes any sense, and anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it. I can still function but it take so much longer having to dig through nodes.

At bottom-left of the pane make sure that Show Sub Items is checked
