Why is rendering taking so long?

Your first render did not "take" two hours. Iray will render indefinitely, gradually making the image less noisier, unless you enable the (optional) settings to terminate it when it exceeds the time limit, the sample limit, or the noise threshold.

The first image is an indoors location with emissive lights, which cause a lot of specular highlights and require a lot of time to process the light ray calculations. The render probably timed out because it went past the two hour limit. The second one looks to be an HDRI with just a single character. An outdoor area with few surfaces for light rays to reflect off means the noise is cleared up quickly, so the noise threshold algorithm ended it.

The best thing to do is turn off all those limits and just render until it looks good, then cancel it.
