So how do you backup? Do you just copy the files to another drive? I've done that. But it is excruciating! Takes a long time since there are many small files.
Or do you use back up softare? I use Macrium Reflect. You can do a files and folders back up, but once again...that takes a very long time.
Or do you do an image back up? I think that might be faster since I think an image backup copies sectors and not files as I understand it. But if that is true, then why does the speed vary? It might be because you are using your PC for other thingss. But I've done nothing but the backup and I've seen the speed vary, sometimes it clips along at a good speed and then other parts will show down alot.
And if you use backup software,...what schedule do you use?
And I know there are three methods for installing content, but do any of the methods allow you to get a new PC and NOT have to re-install everything. I normally use Daz Connect, but if you get a new PC, but have to re-install EVERYTHING. It is suppose to use the files that you already have on an external drive (assuming you installed that way), so it is suppose to be faster than downloading each one. But that still ends up being a job.
Or is there a file somewhere that you can copy from the old PC that will already have the database populated?
Thanks.

If you back up the ContentCluster folder, while nothing is using it (so Daz Studio, Carrara, and installers all closed and gone from the process list) then you can restore it to the new system and the Connect installs wikll be seen; I have done that twice with the system, once on build and later when it developed a crash-habit after an odd power failure that the UPS didn't catch.
Thanks, Richard.
So where do I find the ContentCluster? I looked around, but I didn't find it.Maybe it's hidden. I did a search on my C drive but nothing was found.
I have Daz Studio installed on my C drive. I have my Documents on my D drive and I have my content on an external drive.
And can I copy it to an external hard drive and then copy from there to the new computer?
Edit>Preferences>CMS Settings tab has the location of the ContentCluster.
Yes, as long as you are careful about making sure nothing is using the database a regular copy/paste/copy/paste will do the job.
