I bought the DAZ Creature Creator Add Ons.

Where are the textures I see at the picture?

There is the documentation on this package? It took me 2 days to find out how to add horns to a character!

    Here is the online readme:
    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/17505/start

Sorry not sure about the textures.

If the readme doesn't clear up any issues feel free to ask here. :)

The readme is not much help, outdated and is for the Genesis 2 character.

Are there any Video Turorials on this?

Not sure what you mean by 'outdated'. Genesis 2 Female is the latest Genesis character, and this item is made for G2F. What figure are you trying to use it on?

There are no full body textures for this that I can see, just for the legs, ears, horns etc. You would need to add your own textures, or a colour in the diffuse channel.

My apologees I didnt realise it was the V4 set http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-creature-creator-add-ons.

Just to confirm I don't believe there are any textures included in that pack for skin color and such, I believe there are some for the legs and horns.

You would also need this if you dont have it http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-creature-creator-morphs which is the base pack for the addons for creature shapes. Or bundled here http://www.daz3d.com/m4-v4-creature-creator-bundle

Im also not aware of any videos for this product. If you have any specifics you need answered you may find someone who can help you out here.

Im not really sure of any direct howto specifically for that product. Maybe if you could more generalise your issue. Is it problems with morphs your having? Or something else? This product from what i can tell should function similar to any other v4 or m4 morph packs. The morphs should alll be injected via power loader when you add vicky then just dial in the shapes you want. Keep in mind that these products are 7 to 8 years old.

I am still figuring out this software.

    Another problem:

    Downloaded http://www.daz3d.com/dovecote-folly (for free).

After installation it does not show in the smart content tab (n the right), so I have to search for it in the content library. This is not really user friendly. I installed Dovecote Folly with DAZ3DIM.

    Is this normal?

Only item that have Metadata associated with them will appear in Smart Content. If you look in DIM, you will see that Dovecote folly has no checkmark next to it in the installed tab, which means that it has no Metadata. Sme older items have still not been updated.

The Content Library pane will show you ALL content that is installed in your My DAZ 3D Library folder

There are two main types of content inside DAZ Studio, Poser content (CR2, PZ2, PP2 etc) and DAZ Studio content (DUF, DAZ, DSA, DSB etc) Each can be found in the Content Library pane under their respective formats.

Dovecote Folly can be found in Poser Formats > My DAZ 3D Library > Figures > P3DA_DovecoteFolly.

It is also easier to find in Products under 'D'

    Thanks for the reply!

Do I need to update the database everytime I install some stuff or does DAZ3D find the new items on startup?

If you use DIM, the db is updated automatically.

DIM also offers you any available updates as they become available, so it is a useful tool.

The content library is kind of crazy.

Under poser formats, my daz3d library, pose i find:

    - hair
    - clothing
    - materials
    - poses
    - morphs

    I did not change anything!

What you are seeing (I hope) are PZ2 files which are Poser format files for Poses and Materials (morphs can also be a type of pose), the material ones are known as MAT poses.

What MAT poses do, is apply a material to an object via a PZ2 (pose) file, which is easier than going to the material room in poser, finding the image file, then changing all the settings. You cannot load a MAT pose file without having the item that it was designed for already loaded into the scene.

This is the way it was done in Poser, and has nothing to do with DAZ Studio. I realise that it can be difficult to understand why things are done in a particular way, but it is for historical reasons. Poser had a rigid way of handling file types, and the folders that they were stored in. That has changed for more recent version of Poser, starting with Poser 8 I believe.

Inside DAZ Studio, you can create your own Categories, and you can decide how you want your content presented. It can take a while to sort it all out, but it uses the db, so there is no reason to move anything on disk, just within the categories inside DAZ Studio.

Another thing that you can do, if you haven't already, is to go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Show File Extensions and check that box. That way you can tell what file format an item is in. If in Poser Formats, the only items that will load are Figures (CR2) and Props (PP2), all of the materials, poses and morph injections will be in the Pose folder (PZ2).

    EDIT:
There is this as well, which may help with creating Categories
