Other keyboard shortcuts for scaling, rotation, translation are recognized. I can right click on the parameters tab and get to the symmetry dialog but the hotkey would be easiet and much faster.
1 I pick a bone like left leg or shoulder and rotate it back (also tried hips and root figure)
2 bone still selected I try Shift Y
3 no dialog box.
I must be missing something obvious. Any ideas most appreciated.

Does cmd Z work for Undo? I'm not sure what you mean by keyboard shortcuts for transforms, it's not clear that that is relevant.
Also, please use a fully non-textured view if showing a nude figure.
I'm on Mac, and Shift-Y stopped working for me many versions back. All the Cmd-whatever shortcuts work fine, but this one (which doesn't use the command key) doesn't.
Window>Workspace>Customise, on the left find the command (I can't recall which group it is in off-hand). Does it still list the short cut? if not right-click, choose the set option, and press the key-combo to assign it.
It's in Parameters, and the shortcut is still shown.
That's odd. You could try clearing it and then restoring it, from the right-click menu in the Customise dialogue.
Sorry to respond so late . Still figurng out the website. (so forum messages dont show up in my account message tab?) Shift -Y doesn't work on my macbook using eiher the macbook keyboard or my external keyboard. It does work with Daz Studio on my PC but all my 3d apps are mac based. I was able to remap the Symmetry command key to my F10 function key on the mac but no keyboard combo like "S" or Shift- S worked. I think I have it Wierd.
I suspect it may be something in the OS, possibly that a simple character-producing keystroke cannot be used as a shortcut to invoke a menu command.
