DAZ Studio 4.15. keep crashing after Catalina Security Update on Mac mini 2012

Before the Catallna Update Daz Studio worked fine and after it just starts to open and load up and the crashes.

    I'm having the same problem on my MacBook Pro. Do you have iOS 10.15.7 too? Just comparing notes. Do you have a bug report entered with DAZ? I've been out of commission for almost 2 weeks now.

    I remember times when my MacBook Pro was still new and I could upgrade it without any errors from DS. Good times!

    Obsolesence sucks...

    try >System Preferences>Security & Privacy  

    go to the general tab and see if your app developer is being blocked.

    you can also keep this open and try to run DS and see if a prompt appears in there.
    If this is the case unlock the panel and allow the app to run
    Catalina support by apple is winding down if it's not pulled already. 3 OS's back is usually Apples limit, then they drop it.
    I ran windows on my intel mac (strictly from bootcamp) for years which made DS far more bearable and added years to the system. Windows 10 and an eGPU

    while this is perhaps the worst time since the mammoth roamed North America to buy a GPU you could run windows on the mac from bootcamp get an eGPU, add a half decent nvidia GPU to it and DS would be much happier, but the RAM limit on a 2012 mini is 16GB user installable. 

    I have an m1 mac, you can't gpu that thing, otherwise it's clear Apple is dropping Intel on everything.

    I can confirm the problem with all OpenGL and WebGL applications after installing Catalina Security Update 2021-007 (released Oct 25) for Mac with HD4000 chipset (Macbook Air 2012).  Rolling back to Time Machine prior to Catalina Security Update 2021-007 will allow OpenGL/WebGL apps to work -- but you are at risk without Security Updates.

    Do you think that getting an eGPU would extend my MacBook Pro's ability to use DS for a while? I'm not quite ready to get a brand new laptop and I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I should get a Windows gaming laptop for using DS. I mean, if I was using an eGPU like you linked to, would I be able to use DS now instead of just waiting around and finally doing household chores?

    Thank you for this info! I've placed it in my bug report with DAZ so that they can refer to it in case they haven't seen it yet. Do you have any idea what might have been included in the security update? I'm mulling over restoring from my Time Machine backup but am not sure what I might be setting myself up for. I'd noticed a few stability issues that the update had fixed but then it seemed to really mess up my ability to use DS.

    Now I know I'm not the only one having the same issue. I got the Catalina Security Update 2021-007 on the 29th of October and I've been unable to open DS since then.

    Thanks for this. The list of Security Updates sure looks extensive. Maybe I'll wait a bit longer before using Time Machine. With all of the stuff I've downloaded to use with DS, it might be better to be safer than sorry even with AVG installed. Thanks!
