I can use this but $81.17 for the bundle? Are you all gobbling this up and I'm a cheapskate or is the consensus that it may be overpriced?
Comments
I think it's a bit exepensive but I also maybe cheap. I am use to seeing if you buy X you get Y percent off on such and such bundle. Or if you buy such and such bundle you get so much off on several items to choose from or a coupon that's available at a later date.
I would say this follows the trend of the last couple years here at DS. They have moved to themed bundles and the prices have been going up. (you might recall they have even tried some high priced PC+ items last month).
HOWEVER, as I have made some of my own objects (making a mesh, mapping, texturing, a limited amount of rigging, and such) ... I also recognize that these prices are not bad for what we are getting. The winged wonders looks very nice and could be quite useful for me so it is currently sitting in my cart.
I'm a bit reluctant at this price as well. From the look of the promo images I think the PA has put a lot of work into this and I don't think it is overpriced. It's more a queestion of do I want to pay this much for some birds however well made they are.
I'm still considering it. They do look very good and I've still got some of my discounted gift card left. That shouldn't really make a difference but it doesn't feel much like real money. I suppose that's why Daz keep giving us discounts on gift cards.
This is a PA item, not a Daz Original.
The expensive items last month were PC exclusives, not PC items per se - which are generally available, for a higher price, to non-members.
There are 6 products in the bundle: the base, a texture add-on with a dozen textures, a pose set with ~80 poses, 2 "hair" (feathers) add-ons, and a props set with a dozen props. Plus bonus content exclusive to the bundle.
No, I don't think it's that expensive.
I don't think the price is bad, if you have a use for the little guys...but for that price, the wings do look weird.
Oh ... okay. Thank you for the clarification.
Well I was certainly shocked to see that price! I immediately came to the forum to see if I had missed out on an orange banner or something, and am disappointed that it is indeed that much. I would've expected in the 50's range for members. That's not to say it's not worth it cause I'm sure the vendor had to put a lot of work into it but ... the final price tag did really surprise me.
That said tho, the morphing bird that comes with a realistic looking worm is pretty cool IMO: https://www.daz3d.com/winged-wonders
This in a PA bundle, not a Daz Original. PC members don't get a special price on it.
Wishlisted as I can only wish it comes down in price some day.
I am not really convinced on the bundle as well. The bird base is just the figure plus a very basic texture. The texture packs do look more like hair than feathers. Granted, the whole bundle seems to be rather complete, with poses, textures and props. Buit the birds are to "fantasy" for my personal taste. I do prefer more realistic birds. Just compare to birds by Ken Gilliland...
For that price tag, the bundle is a hard pass for me.
I also raised an eyebrow when I saw the base cost, particularly considering there is only one type of bird in there, ie it can only be altered via the textures.
However it is sitting as number 1 in the What's Hot list, so clearly a lot of customers do not have a problem with the price.
I disagree with your analogy.
You get an adult bird, chick and earthworkm that you can morph and pose (no, there aren't premade poses included, but there are pose control dials) and with a texture, so it's definitely usable on its own if you need a bird, a chick or an earthworm.
You're not buying a wheel which is useless without the rest of the car, you're buying a basic car which can be used to get you from point A to point B.
We don't know what algorithm they use to create the What's Hot list, though.
Or is it just another marketing gimmick to draw our attention to certain products? i.e."Oh, this is HOT; it must be good; I'd better get it so i don't miss out."
I looked at them. Would love to have a nice set of birds. I'm all out of worms no way to feed them after paying for them
I don't know about the price per se but have to agree with those who find the bird kind of - odd. There's something very wrong about the way his wings connect and move, in my view at least, and I also think that the small feathers look rather like fur. Checked with the bird-knowing person in my house to make sure, and she agrees. So, it's not a realistic set in any way, and for that, the price seems steep to me. I do like the addition of the chicks and the worm though, that's a sweet touch (well, not so sweet for the wormie, obviously ...).
it doesn't have enough wing feathers!
As an avid aviarian of over a decade, owning 200 plus finches and exotics back then and more now, I was excited to see this but after a closer look I bailed. It is far from authentic. Not only is the wing span and placement off but so are the barbs and vane plumage. No aftershaft. When I lift wings to scat my birds the plumage is like a curtain veil that covers their body. They do noat have armatures with wings attached. The wing droop is off as is the tail span. Males are brighter than females and how all these males could lay chicks is beyond me. A no go here.
