Render only selected object(s)

I'm trying to create billboards for background figures for specific scenes, which means I want to retain the lighting for those rendered figures. If I could plop them in a scene, render just that object, and save it as a PNG, then it's easy to complete the billboard. But hiding everything is tedious (especially if you have some attached items already hidden, and don't want to have to re-hide them when you un-hide the main figure. I'm sure that makes total sense)

Bottom line, if I could render only selected items, would be a perfect solution.

Easiest option is to put all the objects in the scene in a single group. Then hide the group and unparent the one figure that needs rendering. Once done, re-parent, and then unparent the second figure to be rendered, etc. Hiding the entire scene stored in a group is one click, so should not be too tedious.

Daz Studio works best when you use it modularly. Save everything as presets or scene subsets, then you can load only what you need and only compile them together when it's time for the final render.

Using scene files when you have multiple characters is an absolute nightmare, since Daz has to rebuild the property hierarchy for every single one of them.

I'll givwe that a try. Thanks.

Problem with loading assets as needed is that I have SOOO many morphs for G8 figures, it can take 30 mins to load one of them.

30 minutes sounds way too long. I have a lot of morphs too, but it only takes me about 90 seconds.

Help -> Troubleshooting -> View Log File.

Check your log file for errors. It's often caused by PAs leaving references to products you don't own (like expression packs) in their figures, so Daz stalls while it tries to find them. If you uninstall the offending figures, you can massively speed up your load times.

  • 30 mins was a bit of an exagerration, but it can take 10 easily.

I didn't really see anything in the log that jumped out at me. But it's definitely something I will keep an eye on in the future.

That's probably about right, how big is your file? I have some that are over 1GB in size that take about 15 minutes but that's embedded HD objects which is different in loading than a morph that has check for a crazy number of sub-components and controllers (I suspect this is one of the things that takes the longest but haven't verified that). If you click on the gear next to the morph slider and select Parameter Settings it will open a box for it and reveal the subs and controllers. Also keep in mind it's not just the CHARACTERS in the scene, but also what they are wearing and hair and other things you add to them. Each of those attachments must also run through the same gambit and morph and sub checks for whatever character it's on.
