Auto follow

I'm new at the game and have noticed "AUTO FOLLOW" mentioned frequently when looking at clothing.
Is this an add-on? What does it do? Any answers are appreciated.

That is a good question. I've read the phrase "Auto Follow" in things talking about D-Forms, Posing, Figure Morphs, and elsewhere as well. I'm sure it is included with Daz Studio, and is not exactly controllable directly by the user with it's own control panel type of thing.

If any thing, it's what is supposed to happen, when you do something to the figure, the clothes are on. Tho I've seen that not always work as well.

So I would also like to know what this "Auto Follow" is, just for some clarification of all the tutorials I've read that mention it.

Auto-follow means that if you morph the figure, and the clothes or hair that are conformed to it don't have a built-in morph for that shape, a morph is automatically generated. So let's say you have a morph to turn Genesis into Popeye, but the shirt you have doesn't have a custom morph for Popeye's arms. If auto-follow is on for the Popeye shape, then when you morph Genesis the shirt will automatically get an added morph so the sleeves will fit.

Thank-You, I think. How do I turnon auto-follow for the Popeye shape. Is it automatic. Where is autofollow located?

You do not need to do anything as auto follow is switched on by default (at least it is with the Genesis figures, I am not sure about other figures). After applying a morph where auto fit was needed, you can "undial" it if you want by unhiding the hidden properties for the clothing item, and then locating the autofit morph, and changing its parameter. This is normally not a good idea, but can be useful when trying to mitigate an unwanted effect of the auto follow morph.

I guess what I'm really asking is whether Auto-follow is a part of Daz or an add-on.

In the Parameters pane, click the gear icon at the right of each slider and choose "Parameter Settings". There's a check-box on the right side about half way down for Auto-Follow. Most morphs have it on, things like facial expressions often don't because they can cause weird distortions in hair.

The ability to use auto-follow is built into DS, no need to buy anything extra.
