Help with saving lamp prop with parented light

I downloaded a freebie lamp from Renderosity and converted the materials to Iray. Then i parented a point light to the the lamp. I saved the lamp as a asset the the Studio props, but the pint light did not get saved with ghe lamp. How do I save the lamp with the parented light?

  • It might be best to save it as a 'scene subset'. I do this to save characters with hair, clothing, parented jewels etc & there is no real reason why it wouldn't work with lights parented to the prop. Just save the lamp, and the light will go with it too.

If you made the part of the lamp that emits light emissive, then you would not need a point light at all.

Thanks for the answers. The reason I did not make the bulb emissive is of course because that makes the renders a lot longer. I know about the saving the prop as a scene subset, but have found that it makes a lot of clutter in the DATA folder.

Saving as a Scene Subset writes only one file and does it the folder where you save your Scene Subsets (usually not in Data folder), saving as asset on the other hand writes the geometry in the data folder together with the possible morphs, which sometimes creates problems if done with products that are already installed in your system.
