Advice needed for a modern formal princess outfit

I need a female outfit that someone would wear to a royal function in the present day and I have no ideal what would look correct.

I've search using "princess" or "royal" as search words but all I am finding is periord costumes and I need something that would look appropriate in 2021.

I probably should look at modern formal clothing but again I have not idea what I should look for.

The character is in her early 20's and attractive. I seem to be only finding images of the 90 year old queen when i google search...

Help!

  • I'd just look up what Kate wears, and maybe Meghan.

It's pretty much just regular formal wear, perhaps with a tiara.

Anything Kate Middleton is the modern standard, IMO.
Meghan Markle also, somewhat, but Kate is the standard.

Have you searched for Princess Norway, Netherlands or Belgium, or tried another search engine?

What kind of function? Is it an evening event or a daytime one?

If the latter, some kind of ball gown, probably one that's not too daring. For the day, formal business-like clothing. The sort of thing you'd wear (as a guest) to a wedding or other grand occasion.

I think the crown and the sash matter the most, as long as an evening gown/dress is worn.

Yes, that looks good. Modern royal gals tend to wear expensive, conservative evening dresses so that's right in line.

Definitely! Both our queen and our formr queen (Netherlands here) did the same several times. It sends a clear message to the people that, though their dresses may be expensive, they don't repeatedly throw more of our money away at it, even if they could with their allowances. Unlike many hollywood celebrities who wear 3 to 5 different dresses for a single one-day event, to never wear them again, while screaming at us how we should stop driving cars because it's bad for the environment (never mention how they travelled to the event in a private jet themselves, and didn't even bother with flight-pooling).

So daring to wear the same dress multiple times sends a clear message that they try to practice what they preach, at least to some degree.
Our princesses wear regular jeans, by the way, except when they have to perform at official ceremonial events, then they generally wear conservative yet stylish dresses. Nothing posh or tacky, no big diamond necklaces or any of that stuff. Just something slightly conservative that any girl or woman their age might wear. If they weren't well known, they could easily just sit between the audience and disappear in the crowd.

Oh yes, these two are always excellently dressed. And what they wear can also be found in modified form in the Daz store. Unfortunately I can't think of any examples or PAs at the moment....

In defense of those Hollywood Celebrities: for something like the Oscars they often get the clothes for free... so that old adage of the "gift horse" works here, I guess.
