Daz Studio on a Macbook Pro with M1 chip

Hi,

I am thinking about buying a new Macbook Pro 16" with a M1 chip. Please can anyone tell me if Daz Studio runs well
on a Macbook Pro 16" with a M1 chip. Is it fast with rendering images? Only CPU usage or also GPU?
I am used to render images in Daz Studio on a Mac Pro 2013 with a 3 GHz 10-Core Intel Xeon E5 CPU, 64 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 RAM and
a AMD FirePro D700 6 GB GPU. It renders well but not very fast.

Hope to hear from you.

All the best,
Ysbrand Cosijn

  • Yes, it will apparently work with the m1 CPU and Big Sur/Monterey - though there are a few, mainly cosmetic, issues. However, it will not use any currently supported Mac GPU - neither AMD not the Apple own-brand.

Blender is developing a Metal native version, so complex scenes can be exported from Daz and enjoy support of native graphics from various makers.

I believe Blender is already Apple Silicon native, and that Cycles will be optimized for Metal in March.
