Hey guys,
I just added a new character based on Lanna - https://www.daz3d.com/lanna-for-genesis-8-female and noticed that there are some problems with her skin.
Here you can see problems on the left arm joining with the torso and also at the base of the torso towards the legs.
Here, there are no problems at the arm and torso joining but there are problems at the back, joining the torso and legs area again.
For me it's so weird that this is not a new product but I have not found anyone else commenting on this.
Is this just a problem for me somehow? Was there a fix I can get?
Thanks

Usually when I get seam issues, it is somehow caused by using spectral rendering. When I turn it off, it goes away. It only happens sometimes, not sure what the real cause of the issue is.
I didn't even know spectral rendering is a thing but I jsut found it and it's turned off.
What you see in the screenshots is the basic figure loaded, unaltered, not my custom character.
Once I noticed the problems on my character I loaded the original one to see if it also has the problems, and it seems it does.
Unfortunately, right now I am in the middle of a render and can't check what UVs she uses, but I'll check as soon as I can.
Had a similar problem with one of my characters and it turned out the translucency weight between the face and torso were at different values. When I adjusted the translucency weight of the face from 0.65 to 0.50 that solved the problem.
It's a much more accurate lighting rendering mode that takes some shader adjustment mainly for the translucency/sss... because of this, most of the plug-n-play crowd doesn't use it; as far as the textures go, it is not because of specular rendering, it is due to PA error with mapping...
I like it myself. My only issue is when using some G3 skins on G8. No issues on G3. Apply to G8 I get these odd "seams" for lack of a better description. Surfaces all look fine so I just fix it with healing brush in Photoshop while doing postwork.
Workarounds suck because the actual problem doesn't get addressed...
You can also end up with this type of mismatch due to copy material scripts with grafts not always matching the Shader used. Example being if you use a PBRSkin shader based character and the material copy script for the graft defaults to Iray Uber it will cause a similar mismatch. Or at least that would be my guess as the way Genesis 8 is mapped the torso continues up to the neck/back of the head area, and down to the groin/hip area, the line as shown would have me guess the character has a graft attached and there is an mismatch due to the material copy.
