Sorry to hear that. Happened to me last year. My bank is so paranoid they caught is immediately. Didn't lose a dime. Took about two weeks for a new card. Internet security is becoming a bad joke. Best of luck.
Happened to my credit card last Saturday, still waiting on the new one which I was sure would be here in time for the start of MM on March 1st, but since DAz decided to start early I will now miss out on the better discounts on the new pro bundles as those discounts will expire today instead of running the first 3 days of March as most people would have expect as payday is beginning of month....not happy about it at all
Fortunately, it as caught before anything went through, so I'm not out any money. Luckily enough, my bank can print their own cards, so mine's already replaced.
Very interesting. My credit card was compromised two days ago as well (got a call yesterday and had the card cancelled then).
That card was my "Internet purchase" card and recently, I only used it at Daz, Rendo, Amazon, Paypal, and a handful of other places.
EDIT: On a related note, there's a "my card was hacked" thread on Rendo's forums. Something's amiss somewhere ....
This happens to me quite frequently. I'm with bank of America, and usually 2 or 3 times a year. They need to stop using such dated encryption.
Now I only use credit card for online purchases. This way, if my debit is hacked they don't have access to the bank account.
Mine was hacked on Thursday!
My credit card was hacked earlier in the month. This is the 2nd time my 3D spending credit card was hacked. I am thinking of just using Paypal but that is linked to my bank account so I have even more paranoia about it. I shop at nearly all the 3D stores so I have no idea where it was compromised or if it is my own machine even though I scan with Norton on a regular basis.
This is why i use the disposable gift cards that work like debit cards. If someone gets ahold of the card number, it's only good for a certain amount( I normally get the $50 or $100 cards),,also ,,I usually spend most if not all of the amount on the card in a day or two.I like to think of it as a form of damage control.By the time the thief gets the card info; it will ,most likely, be useless.
My card was hacked on Friday or Saturday last week - or better; the fraud detection algorithm worked well and blocked the suspect transactions. I asked the company whether they have any hints were the data was stolen, because i would use the replacement card in the same online shops like the old one. The guy told me he doesn't know, and if; he wouldn't be able to tell me.. I am in Germany and had transactions to saudi-arabian airlines and hotels in USA, if i understand right the bad guys tried over hundred transactions :)
Me too.
My bank tried to reach me but I don't answer the phone. Gave them my cell today.
I looked at my online statement today and had 3 charges I didn't make. Two turn out to be from a company in New York, the third from a payment company in London. All three were pending and flagged in my account but they'll go through and I have to fill out paper work to get the money bank (total of $124 and change).
The killer though is when I talked to the bank they said a $10,000 charge was attempted which they blocked.
Card is cancelled and new one on the way.
I got this card after the Hivewire incident last summer. The only places I've used it are DAZ, Renderosity, Amazon, and Paypal (Hivewire, RDNA, some paypal button contributions for freebies)
My card was hacked on Thursday. Fortunately, my bank was on to it immediately since the fraudulent usage varied from my usual spending patterns.
Cheers,
Alex.
mine was hacked yesterday
They tried to ding mine for about 3000.00 in separate purchases, but I happened to check my account and saw the pending transactions and called my bank immediately. they took care of it, and sending new card. but since I wanted those bundles so bad today I went and purchased a prepaid Visa and it worked like a charm...thaNks for the idea icecrmn :)
Wow, so many here hacked in the last few days. Are y'all using the same bank or something?
And rather than wait for Bank Of America to upgrade their encryption, I'd think one would change banks!
I'm afraid that the dreams of a cashless society aren't going to be realized anytime soon with all these cyber bank robberies. Personally I carry a crate of chickens around with me, and have a few empty egg cartons with me to lug home my change.
It's not the bank that's the problem here.
The technology for these cards is seriously out of date. Plus, hackers are getting good at guessing the numbers and well, databases and employees can swipe the numbers too if you ever let your card out of your sight.
Last time it was someone trying to use my credit card to get a hotel reservation. It happens.
This why I try to use PayPal as much as possible.
Add another one to the list, I just canceled my card because of bogus charges. Thanks to this thread, I checked my account and had a ten cent charge pending to a Marriott in Oregon. I called the bank, and they had several other "probing" type charges ($1.50 here, $5 there, $182.00 somewhere else, all in New Jersey - I'm out in the Boonies in Wyoming) not listed online, so we shut it down. I'll get a new card in a week or two. So glad I still have store credit with DAZ, I'd hate to have this interfere with March Madness.
I have made purchases from Rendo, PayPal and Amazon online recently. When I bought from Renderocity, I filled out the info and submitted the order as usual, it flashed and went back to the beginning. When I filled it out again, it went through. I begin to suspect some sort of fake order form inserted over the real one somehow. When I have posted this I will go to the Rendo forums and see what they have to say. Thanks again for the heads up on this.
Wow lots going on.
I received a confirmed bogus email made to look like it was coming from a major ISP, insisting that I needed to update cc info, handy link in letter to click on [never do that]. If anybody is doing online banking with ISPs, best to check those bills, attempt was made recently according to the email. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/53242/
They should make it possible to set your card to be accepted only when the purchase is made from one or several IP adresses (or certain ranges, if you use dynamic IPs), selected by you.
My Credit Card was hacked between 19 feb-20 feb. I've only used it at DAZ, Rendo. My bank will send me new Card next week. I decided to use PayPal for all further purchases.
almost a pointless
post. you may just as well tell people to look both way when crossing the street.
what would be of interest to people here would be if you.
1/ used it here at daz or one of the other 3d site ONLY in the last few days.
2/ of interest to some but not me, if you had used it anywhere other than a 3d site.
Just to add a hacked card here.
Actually saw nothing, the bank blocked it last week. As many here, mainly use it for Daz/Rendo stuff.

I wouldn't be so quick to criticise, I think a heads up is fair as there seems to be a spate of CC attacks lately in the 3D community.
I would add that the security in using a paypal account is a good alternative option.
I use paypal for all my online purchases where i can (including here and Rendo) its just as safe as using yer debit or cc if not more so since it adds another layer between the site and your account. I've never had an issue with it. I recommend giving it a shot.

Or could it just be that there is a spate of CC attacks in general and as this is the forum of a 3D site, then it is people using 3D sites with stores that are responding.
I am another one who uses PayPal where ever it is possible, and I change my PayPal password frequently. Even here in the UK I have found many stores are now adding a PayPal option, including one gardening store that I use regularly, so I can buy real pansies and 3D pansies both using PayPal :coolsmirk:

Thats true, I just noticed similar threads at a number of sites including RDNA and Rendo wIth numerous posts in them, sure some of them may be cross posted, but the point is it doesn't hurt to warn people to keep an eye on their credit card when numerous breaches are being reported from others who shop at similar merchants. The breach could potentially be anywhere.
I am sot so sure paypal is so safe either. I have never used it until this time at a site I have never purchased from before. I didn't have an account there and the option was either set up an account or use your cc through paypal, so since it was only going to be a one time purchase I opted to go through paypal...my card got hacked. I don't know if I can mention the site here as when I first posted about what site and the hacking my post was deleted but since then I see lots of people posting where they shopped prior to their card getting hacked

So you think posting a warning to the community that credit and debit cards might be getting hacked is useless? When such a warning could (and did!) prompt members of the community to check their card accounts, just in case?
You and I have very different definitions of the term useful, then.
In any case, to satisfy your criteria for "usefulness", I'd only made online purchases here at DAZ and over at Renderosity.
For The Rest Of The Thread Watchers:
Sorry for the mini rant, folks, but posts like that really p!$$ me off.
The fact that so many are reporting their cards have been hacked is really alarming, and makes me wonder just how secure any online store is these days. I think I'm definitely going to start using PayPal from now on.
If thats the case its highly likely that your system is compromised in some way. As paypal doesnt share the credit card details with the merchant. The only info that could be compromised between paypal and merchant is potentially your paypal account. And in that case any charges would need to go through your paypal account and not your credit card. I have never heard of this happening though. That really leaves the only place for your cc to be breached is between yourself and paypal or from a past exposure. Which potentially leaves your computer system in question as im not aware of paypal being hacked.
