INitial install

Ok I am trying to install DAZ Studio. I want to install the default base install path to a external drive, because default DAZ Studio wants to install to my document folder, which I do not want, due to space. All I want on the C drive is the prorogram itself. Libraries and content I want stored on the external drive (D).

Currently it wont let me do this.

How do I change this for my needs?

I would like to have a combined library with the default content and libraries with my existing content and libraries.

To start with, how are you installing the products (Manual, DIM-Daz Install Manager, Daz Central) so we can tell you the proper way to do this?

I am installing using the Daz Central. I click on the little pen option on right at the install screen and it opens my foldrs up, I make selection, and then click install... But it just sits there and won't install.

  • So I got it to finally install...

But, as I see there are two "My Daz 3D libraries".... which one do I load manual and installer content to? As you can see within attachment there are 2 directories for My DAZ 3d Libraries. (Which the install setup created) I am using the second one, which seems to put things in there approptiate catagories. But I see that even in doing so, some content such as some of the Character bases seem to be defaulting to the first directory.

  • That is nested content directories, one inside the other - you should not have that (and will not by default). Which of those are appearing in the Content Library in Daz Studio?

  • As you can see in the image, there is a library (which you see open showing folders), but further down the list you see another library (Which was not open, so I could take the snapshot). This hyrachirasy was created by the install. I had completely cleared out the drive from all DAZ Studio content and started fresh. I watched as it built the library folders, by keeping the windows explorer open to where it installed.

  • Ok I have installed 5 differant times, and every time the same folder system is created. See previous image

The install installs it that way and I don't know why? One directory has nothing, the other has the content. Why is DAZ doing this. I have installed 5 times with same result.
