Winter Forest HDRI will not install - help
Today, I bought "Winter Forest HDRI," but it won't install. I installed it through DIM, not through DAZ Studios "Connect." Mine is a DIM-only installation setup. Steps I've taken: DIM install and then looked in DS to see if it appeared. It did not. I double-checked the SKU 72103 through the "DB Maintenance" tool and found it listed there, so I re-imported it. The thumbnail did show up after that, however, the product did not. All I got from that was the thumbnail and a box with an exclamation mark. I did try to load it from that, but it will not load. I did uninstall completely and deleted the package I downloaded to re-download and install. After that, the results were the same-- no installation in DS, although it did show up in the "DB Maintenance" list. Before I ask for a refund, I'm going to all of you first. I did search for this in Forums but did not find it in the search results.

The product page says it should have render and camera presets. Have you checked that the zip itself, in the DIM Downlaods folder, will open and has plausible-looking files?
This sounds like a problem someone else posted about HERE - whether a ticket was ever raised for this I don't know
Richard; I have checked the ZIP files. I do believe this is one of those products that fell through the cracks without DAZ Support. I am leaning toward a refund-- lest I wait forever to have it solved. By that point, it will be well past the 30 return policy mark. I've been there so many times now that I've lost count. DAZ needs a LOT more tech services people, I did try installing manually to no avail.
Melanie; Yes, that is the same issue. Apparently, it wasn't dealt with. Now that there are two threads about it others may be warned and shy away from this defective product. After following the information in the link you provided I did look into the Ready to Render category. However, in my case, it was not in there. It took YOUR notes about how YOU fixed that " Lake M..." for DAZ to finally fix it. And, they used YOUR solution to do it. So, my hopes for a DAZ solution are not high. What will probably happen is they may send a note to the artist who will probably ignore it. It seems as though there are major holes in DAZ policies about a creator's duties to follow up on their products.
If you open a ticket and say that if it cannot be resolved you will be asking for a refund, so that you have a request on record within the 30 day window, I would think you would be safe. With luck it is just a packaging issue or the like and could be siwftly fixed.
Hi. Yes, I've done that before and some of them did go over the 30 days. When I finally asked for refunds I was told that it was over 30 days, even though I made note of the original date in the first entry. I had to fight for those refunds because they don't seem to look back at the original date unless challenged. Sad. What I said in my ticket was that if they do not have a solution they can offer then please refund me. I do have other options for a winter scene, so I really don't need this one. It was on sale for a great price, thus prompting my purchase.
I do not buy from this artist JDA HDRI .
It seems to me that his products is not of good quality .
Although to be fair, missing metadata is not JDA HDRI's fault since Daz is supposed to provide that data.
i don't use metadata , i install manually . i have my own custom library .
i talking about promo artist , not metadata ,
"I do not buy from this artist JDA HDRI . It seems to me that his products are not of good quality."
Good to know. Thanks. I'm not sure it has to do with bad metadata, since the thumbnail was in the package, however, what do I know? All I know is that it doesn't work, regardless of the many steps I used to try and get it to work. It does seem like a packaging issue.
i always buy from these artists :
Whitemagus .
iRadiance .
Orestes .
cake and one .
TRC; Thank you for that list!
